Re: THAC X Starts NOW! [CLOSED]
This has been some of the most tense twenty four hours in my life. Wow, that was awesome. I don't actually feel very sleepy at all.
I FEEL GREAT!
Now then! time to watch the MLP I missed!

Hey, sadly my video was blocked in some countriesbecause of copyright infringement, but I did upload a new non-copywritten with new music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5Q9bVqFCMY
Will my entry still be accepted?
Well, sadly, someone in my family turned off the computer, thus the video did not finish uploading. Is it too late for me to reupload it?
I've taken apart the set as soon as the upload started, so no worries about CHEATING.
Would it still be accepted?
There were a lot of really great entries this year! Thanks for hosting, Hazzat.
I'm still eligible, so no worries. I'll reupload the film.
I used bricks as my "baseplate." I put bricks on the baseplate and made it my ground!
Here's a question:
Why is it even a problem if he did use a baseplate as a color mod? I and many others were with him and were helping him make his entry all day long, we all know he was working all day to finish his entry. He misunderstood the mod element, but he still tried to put it in?
Kinda dumb if you ask me.
I noticed what Carroll is basically saying before reading his defense -- I think the rule is too ambiguously worded to disqualify him. I guess we need a specific prohibition against using the ground surface and the entire alphabet as the mod element in the future.
There is a difference between bricks, and baseplates. I used grey bricks and white bricks, they were touching. I honestly don't see why you guys make such a big deal about baseplates touching and creating the mod element.
yay, I have friends!
And Harry (Hazzat) Bossert just confirmed on Skype that Carrollfilms can be in the contest but he's to lazy to verify this so here's a picture of it:

If we're talking on the obviously "grey" area or the color mod, I'll put in my two cents... I thought that it meant you couldn't use a (green, blue, grey, or any other colored) baseplate as one of the colors. I assumed this, and with my film "Raiders of the Hawaiian Box" I originally had the "pedestal" have a white bottom, thus touching the grey baseplate... After reading the rules again, I rebuilt it, as so white on grey was found further up the pedestal, as not to be disqualified. Which brings up the point: What do you consider "blank" touching "blank." However, I think this "mod rule" was made not only to assure the film was made within the 24 hour period, but also to assure "LEGO" is used within the film... (white LEGO walls atop of grey carpet would not work...) At least, that's why I assume this is worded the way it is... I agree with Sméagol, it should be more specified for future contests.

I agree. I don't see the problem with using a base plate. If you don't allow base plates I think it make the rules more vague.

JK has made a good point.
I used the ground for part of the mod twice, but I didn't think it would be a problem because it's not a base plate. A base plate is the very base of the set, and usually very thin with more rounded studs. Those round studs annoy me when I animate on then, so usually avoid showing them anyway.
I put bricks on top of my base plate and then flat grey bricks on top pf that.
I really don't understand why such a rule is even necessary a all. It just makes the mod element more confusing, and it already really confuses many people.
It's great seeing all of you kind people standing up for me. *moans*
Well ofcourse we stand up for you, atleast the ones who helped you and talked to you during these 24 hours so we know you did really make the video during the contest. I still don't see what the problem was but since it's solved and Carroll's entry is allowed it doesn't matter.
