Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

@Isaac - Looks interesting! Glad you are gonna be entering!

@Olson - Yes it is, it's actually 3:1.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Why is it 3:1? I have a hard time even working with 2:1, and wider seems like the only thing that would look good would be coastlines or wideshots of sprawling cities. Any shots of people and the like seme like they would be compromised.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Why did I choose 3:1? Well, I liked the style and the look of it. Same could be said for whenever I choose 16:9 or 2.35:1. It's all a matter of which I like the look of best and how it fits the film. I'm not completely decided yet whether I am going to keep it 3:1 or not, as I've only shot a little under half of the video. So far I'm really liking the look that it gives, even during dialogue and character shots.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Really like the lighting of yours, Repelling Spider. And Isaac, that looks pretty neat, though the masking is a bit obvious.
Anyway, I was doing a bit of animation (a total of like, two seconds) and decided to mess around with Sony Vegas. I then decided to have Meat Quest in fullscreen instead of having those black bars on the top and bottom, it just looks more natural.

These are all pretty old shots, I just wanted to share them after keeping hold of them for so long.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Yo Gandy, Jstudios here just posted some frames from his upcoming film, and for you to quote something you posted from like pages ago is kind of really rude! You gotta wait until at least 3 people post critque for jstudios' frames before you do something like that! And since you already posted that film it's even more rude! Wow!

Your frames are pretty good, jstudios. I'd critique it but since they're older frames and you've vastly improved since then I just figure whatever.

Gandy has introduced a little anarchy around here mini/bigsmile though Just Kidden is right. It's a pretty douchy move.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Jstudios, yeah, Meat Quest! mini/bigsmile I like the frames, but the top/center of frame #2 looks a little grainy. Must be the saturation.

Gand, I agree with JK. Also, that isn't really a frame, or "fram", as you called it.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Thanks Mickey. And the graininess shouldn't be too big a deal, the shot and scene itself aren't very long.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

For some reason I really like the second frame; might be because of the positions the minifigures are in, it's just...cool. Although the third one seems a little blank, might've been better if the camera was either closer to the characters, or there were more set details in front of them. I also really like the camera angle on the first one, pretty nice.

I'm going to continue my shameful behavior because I don't see any warning against non-brick-film images. Here are a couple stills from a live action project I shot recently, Voices Wake Us. It's about an astronaut who crash lands on an alien planet.

Hey, it's Mackenzie. Looking forward to another film from you! Great frames and I really like the lighting on the first one in particular. I love lens flares.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

More of a publicity shot than a frame since it's early days yet:

Wow. Welcome back spite your face. I'm living and working in visual effects in London now, so if you're looking to hire people, I'd love a chance at applying mini/tongue

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

@Sméagol I love the lens flare and composition of the first shot, it really gives some nice 'eye candy', but the colors are a tad bit too desaturated in my opinion. I'm also curious, is the setting in the movie going to be entirely fictional (made up planets, CGI animals) or will it still be grounded in reality? Anyway, can't wait to see it!

@Timdrage Wow, just wow. This is a great poster, and really gives a dramatic feel. The slogan (Because something has not to be a Disney film) made me chuckle quite a bit. I also went to the IndieGogo page and I must say, it looks like a very interesting film! Will it be shown at local film festivals once it's done?

@Topitmunkeydog Looking at this frame I find hard to tell what's going on.The green screening around the edges of the minifigure (specifically the bike) isn't all that great (although I know who tough it is to get right). The minifigure is also a wee bit blurry, but not as much for it to be distracting.

Now here's a frame of my new film Creation. For this shot I had to experiment with lighting a lot. To get the end result I had to focus a beam of light right onto the desk. The left part of the image is my rough 'post color corrected shot' (I like to do those to see how it looks) and the right part is the original image. Feedback is appreciated!

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

I think the color grading looks nice, but I'll have to wait until I see more of the sequence to know, as not much is shown here. Interesting frame though! Looking forward to seeing a new film from you! mini/smile

It's funny, the colors are actually boosted in saturation. We boosted them even further in the final film than in the stills I posted, which just had some temp mocked up grading. Sometimes shadowy outdoor lighting can make things look a little washed out, I think.

Whole movie takes place on a made up planet, but given time and budget contraints it basically looks like an earth swamp. There are some mountains and the planet as rings, though.
