Re: DISNEY BOUGHT LUCASFILMS AND STAR WARS EPISODE VII!
Tarantino and Snyder are also out. Abrams and Favreau sound like they're out as well. The list keeps getting shorter. Place your bets!

Gabatay! I was really hoping it would be him.
As much as I like Brad Bird, he doesn't seem like the right person for Star Wars. I'm not sure why everyone's going on about him doing it. But, I've really enjoyed his movies, so I don't think he'd be bad.
Matthew Vaughn people! Matthew Vaughn, thats my bet.
How about Tim Burton? ![]()
Nooooooo oh gosh no lol
Michael Arndt has been chosen to write Episode 7.

I don't see why people want Brad Bird for the role. He's only made one live action feature (Mission Impossible 4, a well-made but ultimately big/dumb/loud action movie) and his animations range from pretty good but sorta big/dumb/loud and comedic (The Incredibles) to Ratatouille, which seemed like a really bland approach to possibly interesting subject matter.
I'm not arguing either way, but I don't think you can consider Brad Bird's suitability without mentioning The Iron Giant.
Darn, that kills a big chance of this thing actually being good, all these directors not wanting to work on it.
I'd kinda like to see how John Carpenter would do on this film. Is he still making movies even?
If only Stanley Kubrick was still alive!! We need you Stan!! ;-;
nope, never mind about that. My vote goes for Lauren Faust. ![]()
We know, Antonio
Tee-hee, that rhymes. Anyways, Lucas didn't direct every episode. There were two other guys, Irvin (Episode V) and Richard (Episode VI). Perhaps, if one of them is still alive, and would be willing to direct.
None of them are alive so thats not gonna happen.
EDIT: Apparently Disney's evil plan is to go the Marvel way and release 2-3 Star Wars Movies EVER YEAR.
Noone can defend this anymore, this is defenitly a cheap cashgrab

Some updates:
Bird is "Not doing Star Wars". BOoooo!
Writers already assigned for VIII and IX? I think it's too early for that.
Bust out your wooden Lightsabers and Jedi crosses and let's not let this happen.
So basically, not much has happened.
Writers assigned for 13 and 4? Was that a typo?
It doesn't surprise seeing as it's most likely the reason why he left X-Men and I believe it's the right decision.
Won't it be weird having a Star Wars movie open without the 20th Century fanfare?
Won't it be weird (not to mention HORRIBLY DISASTROUSLY TERRIBLE MURDEROUSLY CATASTROPHIC) watching a Star Wars movie with emotionally non-existent Kristen Stuart and Sparkly Fangirl-causing (not really at all) "hunk" Playing in the greatest legacy since like ever?
Wait , What about Lucasarts? the is no news about lucasarts from anyone.
