Re: DISNEY BOUGHT LUCASFILMS AND STAR WARS EPISODE VII!

Just to confirm, yep I was talking about Han Solo. That wouldn't make any sense otherwise.

If they make a Geonosian disney castle that would be cool.

Also Leia would be a great Disney princess. Stop setting sexist ideals for children and show them a good role model.

I do hope this is not in the opening... that would be awful

Well, again, you brought it up out of left field in non-sequitur response to a comment of mine. Let's be civil, alright?

Truth be told, does it really matter to the story where the remote came from? Does it change the course of a story or character arcs? Have you read this? You should. All of you should.

That "Why" you wrote looked so obviously targeted to me when I said that the original movies made less sense now with the prequels, if you were gonna target it to an even earlier comment of mine i'd suggest you quote it aswell.

You also thought Obi-Wan was the one who brought that metal thingy and I simply responded how that wasn't possible. Also, it does matter to the story cause now Han-Solo just happen to have that flying shooter ball thingy aaand the exact same helmet that now with the prequel movies are specially designed items for children when they are taking lessons to become Jedis.

Re: DISNEY BOUGHT LUCASFILMS AND STAR WARS EPISODE VII!

That ruins the movie for you? Mmkay. Fair enough.

Also, if you're still confused about my comment, go back to the second page and read the 3 previous posts before mine. It seems like a pretty clear progression of conversation to me.

Re: DISNEY BOUGHT LUCASFILMS AND STAR WARS EPISODE VII!

I'm kind of agree with Lucas, but in a different way (if that makes any sense whatsoever). To me it doesn't really ruin the prequels, it's just an example that George Lucas had no idea what many of the ideas in the original Star Wars were about (the whole wearing those clothes on Tatooine and this are probably the main examples) and that he'd also take ideas from the old Star Wars and straight-up rip them off.
There are shots and ideas that happen in the prequels that seem taken right out of the original. And then pretty much anything that he didn't steal from the original was just...well...

Re: DISNEY BOUGHT LUCASFILMS AND STAR WARS EPISODE VII!

I think if they get a good director (please Matthew Vaughn), then we shouldn't be worried because it can't get any worse than the prequels. I'm actually kinda exited for this the more I think about Episode VII. I can't wait to see it on the big screen.

I also hope that Disney will release the original cuts finally on Blu Ray.

Lucas: I really hope you know that they weren't called Episode 4, 5 and 6 when they came out...
LarryStudios: It still would've made sense without the prequels.
Lucas: Infact it makes even less sense now WITH the prequels
Jargon: Why?

It just seems like you are responding to my second comment and you keep saying that you responded to my first, thats not a clear progression of conversation...

Also that simple thing is not what ruins the movie for me. it was like Jstudios said: an example that George Lucas has no idea what Star Wars is about, what made it good or what alot of the ideas were supposed to be.

And btw Darkman I also hope Matthew Vaughn could direct it aswell because he knows how to make great sci-fi (although I'm not really a big fan of Stardust but it was still well directed) and he doesn't really have alot of other stuff to do now as he jumped off First Class 2 (which is just because he is involved with Star Wars Episode VII)

If you are talking about Han Solo then I believe that is just how he got it as he has been out on many missions and is a guy you would believe steal stuff.

So?  Star Wars has a huuuge storyline, and trying to explain every little detail would just make the films overlong, tedious and boring.  Honestly, it's a tiny detail, and there any number of ways Han Solo could have come into possession of the helmet.

Well thats what I said! I said Han Solo was the one who got it, never HOW he got it. I was responding to how it wouldn't make any sense that Obi-Wan was the one who got it. My point is that quibbling over such frankly minuscule details is, in my opinion, rather pointless and pedantic.  These are tiny flaws (if they can even be called that) at worst, and do nothing to detract from the film on the whole.

Re: DISNEY BOUGHT LUCASFILMS AND STAR WARS EPISODE VII!

We are over analyzing this way to much. It is plain and simple, either you like Star Wars or you don't. Either you liked the prequels or you didn't. Either you like the thought of an all new film or you don't. You either like or hate Lucas. Bottom line if you like Star Wars and still enjoy to be taken to a galaxy far far away then go watch episode7. If you can't be bothered and have had enough of the trilogy then don't go. Bottom line every movie has its plot holes and oops in it. Star Wars is not perfect and yet there are films like Avatar and Terminator and so forth with plot holes, but hey who cares. They are fun to watch and that is the whole point. Jargon makes a great point everyone should read that link he posted. Thanks that's all I wanted to say.

Michael Arndt?  Is that good or bad for Star Wars?  Will it be as sappy as Toy Story 3 was?

Re: DISNEY BOUGHT LUCASFILMS AND STAR WARS EPISODE VII!

I agree that Toy Story 3 was really sappy. The first two were, as well, though, so maybe he's just good at mimicking the style of a given franchise. I haven't seen Little Miss Sunshine, but its reputation inspires a little more confidence, I guess.

I don't see why people want Brad Bird for the role. He's only made one live action feature (Mission Impossible 4, a well-made but ultimately big/dumb/loud action movie) and his animations range from pretty good but sorta big/dumb/loud and comedic (The Incredibles) to Ratatouille, which seemed like a really bland approach to possibly interesting subject matter.

I think Star Wars is best when it's dark, emotionally poignant, and there's some complexity to the characters. aka The Empire Strikes Back. Brad Bird's competent but I'd much rather have somebody with a track record of making films like this. Francis Ford Coppola, Guillermo Del Toro, Neill Blomkamp, folks like that.
