Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I like the first one the best, is that supposed to be the ninja gaiden guy?

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

It depends on what kind of look you're going for; if you want a simple, plain ninja, then yes, the third. If you want a warrior-like ninja, I'd suggest the first's hat and the second's armor; the first's armor looks too big and bulky for any kind of ninja.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I'd use your suggestion, kcirbfilms, but that hat doesn't fit with the armor you mentioned. I think I am going to use the third version (that was my favorite anyway).

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I'd go with the third one. More agility and less bulky armor.

Fencers? (for the animation challenge)

I'm debating whether to go with the all white suit or the grayish shirt, loosely basing the minifigs off of what I've seen of this years olympic fencing uniforms. So...white or gray?

Wish I could do them both with this helmet which is more like what they actually look like, but unfortunately I only have one.
Sorry about them being a little dirty, for the actual entry I promise I'll clean them up. Does anyone have a better idea for the helmet, to me that seems the most iffy part.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

So, why the Star Wars helmets?

EDIT: Here are some minifigs I've built for an animation which I haven't quite finished planning yet. In fact, the minifigures are all I have so far (no plot or anything yet).

Palaemon, God of Sharks and Harbours

Hades, God of the Underworld. This photo's a little bit blurry, but not much.

Amaterasu, Shinto Goddess of the Sun

Here's the full gallery. There are six others, which would make this post too long.

As I said, I haven't really got a story yet, but I know that Palaemon will be the main character.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I'm trying to decide which hair would look better on a 10th Doctor figure:

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I'd go with the first head and the second hair.

Did anyone have any comments on my Godly minifigures?

I haven't been on here for so long I nearly forgot how to reply...

I think they're awesome, my favourite being Hades.

Any ideas what it will be about yet?

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I like Amaterasu! Her cape seems thicker than most though. Is it a vintage cape?

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I think I like Odin the best. I just have to point out one thing: Hades isn't evil. As you state in your description of him, he was given the short stick. He was cheated into being lord of the underworld. He's not evil. (Apologies, I just get tired of the stereotype that Hades is some evil tyrant with an undead army. I understand that he's the go-to villain in terms of Greek gods, but honestly, he's not evil...) Anyways, they all look pretty good. For Thor, though, you might want to try a less manic face, and possibly a shorter/smaller beard.

It's from an old Star Wars set...Grievous's Chopper, or some such.

Actually, it's not. I have that set (it's called General Grevious Chase), and the cape's printing is different. (I have both sets that include the Ep. 3 Grevious, by the way.)

I looked it up, and it looks like this cape. You can see both sides of the cape in minifig's image.

It looks thicker because of the frayed edges. I have quite a few old capes that are like that.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Yes, that's it. I got the set too, but a long while ago. It's long since been dismantled. Sorry for the goof. I think that cape is actually Madame Hooch's from an old Harry Potter set.

(I have that one, too, as a birthday gift of yore, but I've lost the cape. mini/sad )

That's what I'm sayin'! The Bricklink page is the page for that cape (the image shows the front of it). You'll see that set in came in (and the minifig) in the "This Part Appears In" section on the right.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Wow, I never expected such a large response! Thanks, guys!

Yes. I haven't completely solidified the plot, but it'll be a Hobbit-esque comedy quest thing in which the heroes from several mythologies go on a quest to [stop bad guy/save world]. It might sound a bit flat, but the main idea is that all the heroes clash because their cultures have different ideas about what makes a hero. I'll be working on it in earnest after I've finished the first two episodes of Caden Hawke.

Chiro wrote:

It's from Madame Hooch. I actually have two, 'coz I got two of the same set for my birthday the year it came out. Most of my Lego collection is Hogwarts sets.

Thor won't get much of a look-in in the movie, but I get what you mean. The beard is a bit big.

And I get what you mean about Hades, and that's exactly why I've made him evil. This whole film/series is a comedy, and so some elements are specifically designed to parody movies like Clash of the Titans and Hercules. Making fun of the trope rather than embracing it. I think that the Hades in Percy Jackson is probably the best interpretation of him (I'm taking about the book, not the film) - he's insidious, passive aggressive and hateful, but not evil. He understands his role and has accepted it as much as anyone can expect him to.

Thanks for all the comments guys! I really appreciate everything you've said, and the interest you've shown. I'll make sure to repay that by doing an awesome film!
