The movie is going to focus on the life of Walt Disney, so I'm pretty sure it's not going to go as far as the times of Jetix and Disney xD. And even if it does, it would only be like an epilogue.

I doubt a award winning actor would star in a low budget Channels original movie...

Ouch. They're not really sticking to the book, it looks like. The dwarfs want to regain their homeland? mini/confused

Wait and see...

The LOTR movies are not very ''faithful'' to the books too.

What? That's the WHOLE POINT OF THE BOOK. The dwarves were run away from Erebor by Smaug, and now want to take it back. Yes, a lot of stuff will be added, but the basic story remains the same.

One of the last great dragons of Middle-earth, Smaug rose to prominence by laying waste to the town of Dale and capturing the Lonely Mountain (Erebor) with all of its treasure. These events occurred some 150 years before the events of The Hobbit, and Smaug was already centuries old at the time. The book recounts the tale of a party of dwarves (consisting of a few of the original residents of the Lonely Mountain and their descendants) and the titular hobbit to recapture the mountain and kill the dragon.

Oh, and that trailer is simply, and completely, amazing. mini/jaw

Re: The Super Official BiM Upcoming Movie Updates and Discussion Thread

Oh, yeah. XP Sorry. They have so many side adventures that I completely forgot why they went to kill Smaug.

Re: The Super Official BiM Upcoming Movie Updates and Discussion Thread

I thought you were talking about something else, Mighty mini/lol

I love the set design, colors and cinematography of the trailer. Beautiful.

No, it's not a Disney Channel movie. It's a Walt Disney Pictures movie (the film company).

Also, the trailer for the new Abraham Lincoln movie came out last week.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: The Super Official BiM Upcoming Movie Updates and Discussion Thread

Hey, look at this, there's some alternate endings to the Hobbit trailer! (Skip to 2:19 to see the new footage.)

Cool! Thanks for sharing that. I'm all for more Hobbit trailer content. mini/smile Can't wait for the movie this December. That trailer two is pretty awesome, hadn't seen it yet.

Personally, everything in it looks pretty easy to get from the book. The one bit I am wondering about is that part with the line "a dark power has found a way back into the world". Referencing the coming forth of Sauron from hiding as the Necromancer maybe?

I too cannot wait. It looks pretty good. In fact, I'm gonna go see the play (my local theatre is doing a production of The Hobbit) this Friday! mini/bigsmile

Hey, that's cool! That would be fun to go to. Interestingly enough, I actually saw a play recently also (probably only the second or third time ever for me). It was Snow White though.  mini/blankexpression  Went mostly to support a friend that was in it. mini/smile

The Lone Ranger teaser
My reaction to Jonny Depp playing Tonto is as follows: mini/lol mini/rolleyes

Anyway, Lego is rumored to be making sets on this, and it's good because we've been starved of good western Lego sets recently, but as far as I can tell that'll be the only good thing to come from it. What are your thoughts?

EDIT: Oh yeah, and guess who is the main character....Yep, Tonto.
You know things are bad when The Lone Ranger isn't even the main hero is his own movie.
Right now it looks like a better title would be: "Tonto and the Great Train." mini/confused

Re: The Super Official BiM Upcoming Movie Updates and Discussion Thread

I'm looking forward to it.

So far from what I've seen, I've never not enjoyed a Gore Verbinski film.
(I still liked POTC 3)

Re: The Super Official BiM Upcoming Movie Updates and Discussion Thread

That movie looks atrocious. My opinion is influenced, however, by the trail of bad press that's emerged from the production over the last year or so.

Re: The Super Official BiM Upcoming Movie Updates and Discussion Thread

That film looks kind of interesting but not that great. And I think the 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean is the best of all of them btw.
Okay, so I was going to watch Gangnam Style, but then an advertisement for Life of Pi came up, and I was so excited that after the ad I didn't even bother to watch the original video I was going to.
For one thing, Life of Pi is a really great book and so the movie looks great also, but the real reason I was so happy was because the trailer used songs by my two favorite bands: Sigur Ros and Coldplay. I recognized the opening few piano notes of Saeglopur (the Sigur Ros song) and then started squeeing so much that I pretty much derped and tuned out the whole rest of the trailer because it was so cool.
So, thoughts on this film, guise? I think it looks pretty good, idk about you. However I'm not sure how well the book will translate into film because it's basically just this guy on a boat in the middle of the ocean the whole time and he kind of just sits there and talks with his tiger friend (not really but kinda).
