Re: The CGI Thread

Just a hobby.

I might make a brickfilm sometime using Blender's CGI, if I ever get around to it. I might be able to "borrow" my mom's $800 camera....

Re: The CGI Thread

is there any cloud based CGI software out there?

Makerimages animations is back!

Re: The CGI Thread

You mean a CGI program that can generate clouds?

Makerimages animations is back!

Re: The CGI Thread

I don't know of any CGI programs that operate in your web browser, if that's what you mean....

EDIT: By the way, is this sufficient evidence to prove that I'm morbid?

Re: The CGI Thread

looks a bit too sharp to me.

Makerimages animations is back!

Re: The CGI Thread

Meaning what, exactly? You mean the edges of the planet?

Re: The CGI Thread

@Rusty
The picture does have a morbid feel but I would agree with makerimages ~ the edges of the continents looks too sharp, almost as if the oceans have dried up.  Also with the clouds there seems to be areas that are perfectly flat.

Of course this is IMO and these might be artistic choices mini/wink

What I do like about the picture is the wonderful reddish accents that you added to the east coast of North America.  Definitely gives a feels of "fire and destruction", very morbid

I've seen a few other pictures from you that are similar to this: are these planet pictures for fun or are they for a project?

If I'm on the forums, I'm probably waiting for Blender to finish rendering.

Re: The CGI Thread

They're all just for fun right now. I might make a brickfilm, but I dunno.

Anyway, is this any better? I upped the bump map on the clouds, and tweaked the oceans and compositing.

Re: The CGI Thread

@Rusty - The planets look very nice (especially the first one).
@Cooked Cat - Looks really nice so far. I like the front steps and the carpet quite a bit, although the carpet steps are fairly large.
@ZP - Amazing! I especially like the first one, with the hills, forest, and lake. It also looks like it takes forever to render.

I also have a question for everyone...
I have blender, and am getting ok at it. I've done some animations with it before now, and used leocad for legos. Right now I'm trying to make my first decent looking animation (the others were bad), and have everything made, positioned, and ready. The problem is that when I attempt to do set the first keyframe, a few of the legos change their position and rotation, when I move to a keyframe further along. Why would this be? And no, I don't have any other keyframes set, and I don't move the pieces.
Any help would be nice. And in the mean time, I'll try to figure it out. mini/smile

Re: The CGI Thread

@legoguy501
thanks man, I dont know why your bricks are moving... but, with regard to the stairs, their actually the same size as the ones out front, just hadn't finished with them...

Re: The CGI Thread

Oh yeah, you're right...it had looked like they were a whole brick high, opposed to 2 plates.

And for some reason, blender randomly started working fine again. All I had to do was duplicate a piece, and use it to replace the first one. Not sure what that was all about mini/confused So I'm back in business mini/smile

Little art project I'm working on involving CGI.  What do you see.
