Topic: Maya models in Bricksmith?

I have Maya and Bricksmith, and I always wanted to be able to make a LEGO animation. I have tried making the models straight into Maya, and failed miserably, and I'm now wondering if I can get a Bricksmith model into Maya and animate it that way.

Anyone know if I can or can't?

Re: Maya models in Bricksmith?

As far as I know, you can't go straight from Bricksmith to Maya.  You have to use a converter.  So far, the only mainstream (and thus an active support community) 3D modelling program that supports Ldraw models (which I assume Bricksmith uses) is pre-2.5x versions of Blender.  From there, you can export to a format that Maya supports.

I'm pretty sure that bricksmith is the mac version of Ldraw. Nice tutorial too mini/smile
I was kinda hoping you'd answer, because your animations are awesome mini/bigsmile  I wish I could animate like you, but that must take a long time!

It has taken years, yes, and it'll take some more.  Unless you want to make a profession out of it, then committing a lot of time will get you to that professional level in less than a year.
