Barry Hollows attempts to make the sequel to the greatest zombie movie ever made.

Re: Zombie: Exodus

One of the best films this year. No light flicker, excellent face animation and a great story. It contains tid bits of humor, not under using them, but also not going over the top. 5/5

Re: Zombie: Exodus

Technically brilliant, great concept & delivery, and some great humour!  (Bring on 'Zombie: Leviticus')

Part 2 Coming Soon

Re: Zombie: Exodus

The best part was Rivers coming in at the end. xD

I really like how you had Philip Heinrich listed as himself.

Re: Zombie: Exodus

Wow man, unlike the film within this film, this was much better than the first! I loved the story, the humor, the voice acting, and the animation!

This is also one of the few times I really liked the facial animation in a film. I was well done, and wasn't used as an excuse not to do very much animation, like it is often used to.

Overall, very well done!

Re: Zombie: Exodus

Fantastic! Simply amazing, I really never thought that you would come out with a sequel to Zombie: Genesis. Great work.

I really can't find a single flaw with this film. Outstanding work all around, everything in this was pretty much perfect. Well done!

My favorite film of the year so far, and definitely one of the best. Looking forward to Leviticus and Numbers.

Re: Zombie: Exodus

Good. Really good. Really, really good. Really, really, really.... (Well, you get the point. mini/wink )

Anyway, I don't know if it was from simply expecting too much, or if it was already knowing what style of movie it will be, but it just didn't seem quite as good as the first. Although it's definitively not very far behind. I liked all the small details like the "Rotten Tomatoes" rating, the signs for the protesters, and the zombie at the premiere. And of course the credits clip with "Rivers". As usual, great animation, great effects and great story.

Re: Zombie: Exodus

As a fan of "Zombie: Genesis," I must say that I thought this film was much better than the first! It uses more humor appropriately, it looks more at the current status of Hollywood where it seems that almost every move is dictated by money, and the special effects enhance, rather than substitute, the stop-motion animation. Even if you don't make a "Zombie: Leviticus," I would still like to see you make more of these making of films! Keep up the good work!

So good I was overwhelmed with the animation one of the best brickfilms of the year this deserves a Award of 10/10

Re: Zombie: Exodus

This film was absolutely hilarious!  The jokes were spot-on, and the film itself was a visual masterpiece.  The CGI at 2:11 was nearly flawless, and I would just love to know how you got C4d to get such amazingly realistic results!

Unique, entertaining and hilarious. I loved every bit of it.

Re: Zombie: Exodus

Might as well hold a secure spot for this film in the BiM 2012 awards. Great film, I really enjoyed it.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Well I can give you a brief run-down of it here, but let me know if you want more details. Most of it is the lighting. I had the advantage of having a real set as the background so I used that to match the lighting perfectly on the minifigs. I turned on soft shadows on all the lights. The texturing for the bricks was fairly simple, just some slight reflection and specular. As far as render settings, I just turned on Ambient Occlusion and left everything else at the defaults.

Re: Zombie: Exodus

Thanks for answering my question, but I have another now. mini/cat  What were your settings on the lights, and what type of light did you use?  Cause I just can't figure out how to get C4d's lights to act like mine...  Thanks!

Re: Zombie: Exodus

I came here late, but I actually saw it when this came out. It's great, more complete than the first one (although I still prefer Genesis), and I love the character of the Studio Executive.

There's only one thing that kind of bothered me: the animation. Sure, it's smooth and flawless, has fluid movements, but mostly it's the fact that when people speak, there is minimal animation. For most of the time, they are still, move the arm a little bit and that's all. It was all left to the mouth animation and the voice actors, and they did a wonderful job.
In my opinion, the heads should have moved more, for example: when Philip gives the oscar to Barry and the producer, to me it looks like he doesn't even read the paper, and then when the two are talking to the audience, they look in front of them like if nobody's there. I guess this was done for the mouth animation, which would be harder if the head moves.
I still think it would have been much better, gives more personalities to the characters.

Anyway, that is if I was nitpicky. For the rest, as I already said, it's great. 4.5/5

Re: Zombie: Exodus

Oh man... That was awesome.  You sir, have amazed me once again.  I loved Zombie Genesis a lot, and I think this was a great continuation of the story.  I enjoyed the new problems that came up too, such as shooting in 3d, being politically correct, and the people protesting the killing of "misunderstood" zombies.

The animation was excellent as usual, and the facial effects were great too, although some more eye/eyebrow movement could have added a lot more expression.  The CGI shot of the zombies was perfectly lit, and if the zombies had not been bending in un-lego ways, I don't know if I would have been able to tell it was GCI.

Overall a great film, very well made, I laughed several times while watching it.
Once again, excellent work, I look forward to seeing "Grey Latitude" when it comes out.
