Anyway, here's a little animation I made with my spaceship and my terraformed Mars. It's in black and white to increase realism.
The quality was reduced, but I'm kinda glad for that, as there was a massive amount of star flickering.
A great CGI film is Star Wars meets Star Trek:Attack of the drones by Smeagol Studios.
That's pretty good Rusty, although by the time we terraform Mars I'm sure we'd have HD colour tv!
Yeah, I just did the black and white to stylize it a bit.
@Kreesret, For something that you threw together because you are bored, it looks great.
A second attempt at a miniature city, using the "Tilt Shift" Technique to make it look small.
I would like to know how to get rid of grain.

I'm using Blender, and yes, I do leik.
It should be the same issue I talked you through over Skype, but in a different field.
Make sure that anything shadow or lighting-related is set to 'approximate', not the other option. Setting the samples to 1 or higher will increase render time, but improve looks.

But yeah, bumping up the samples is the only way to eliminate noise.

In case you couldn't tell, it's some kind of reactor core, like in the Death Star. Another one will eventually be placed above it.

DOUBLE POST BUMP!
Seeing how well I can integrate CGI with a real image.
Any tips/suggestions/constructive criticism?
What part is CGI? Whatever it is, it blends in really well!
I've taken a hiatus on learning Blender until I can get a new mouse, so I've started on Bryce 7. Seem to be getting somewhere. Here's one of the things I'm working on:
I just need to work out how to do big roots and stuff, and that kind of thing. I'll get back to learning Blender at some point.
What part is CGI?
The spaceship. Everything else is part of an image of a space shuttle's takeoff.
I made a desktop background.
But as you may have noticed, the clouds on the planet on the right look overexposed. But then again, that may add a bit of realism, as the camera would need a longer exposure to be able to see the Milky Way that bright.
Rusty it looks awesome mate, well done, is it for an upcoming movie or just a hobby?
