Re: YouTube

I guess it depends what videos you put up. Why would there be copyright issues in the first place? Just wondering, is all.

Re: YouTube

I've noticed an increase in my AdSense earnings in the past two weeks. Earnings have become more consistent and higher. This said, I'm still not making enough money to fund much of anything but this has shown me how people with 1,000+ subs and regular content could be making a nice bit of money. Here's hoping I can make it. mini/smile I also think the True View in stream ads generate greater profit for me. I was initially against them but have decided to use them on major videos, while keeping them off of the smaller and shorter tests and other videos on my channel.

As far as those who are against ads on their films, I can see where you are coming from. However, I don't think its a bad thing in all cases, nor should those who use ads be looked down upon. After all, if I end up making money from my YouTube videos, most of that money will probably go back into new videos.

Re: YouTube

Maybe you lot should concentrate more on making decent videos and stop focusing on making money and/or becoming partners. Enjoy yourselves for christs sake, don't make it a job first, make sure it stays your hobby and if there are added bonuses like making a little bit of cash, thats cool, but don't lose sight of why you brickfilm in the first place.

All you guys go on about nowadays, jeez.

Re: YouTube

I do go about my hobby and enjoy it quite well. Like you said, if there are added bonuses such as making a little bit of cash, then great. I'm simply discussing that added bonus, no problems there at all.

Re: YouTube

Repelling Spider already makes decent videos.

Re: YouTube

What!? People were saying you had to be part of a network to get the cool partner tools!  mini/twitch

Anyway, that's all I need to know Larry (can I call you that?). Now I'll just have to be patient...

To me, it's not about "making the money" for the heck of it.
I live in a family of seven, and that could relieve the stress from my mother and father.
Besides, Lego sets are getting more expensive, and the extra money would come in handy for tools and software.
Fun fact: Back in 2009, I didnt even know "partnership" existed. I thought the brickfilmers on YouTube did it for fun. That's what I wanted to do; do it for fun.

Re: YouTube

I'm not picking on repelling spider jesus. All I'm saying is people should focus less on making money when they make films.

Re: YouTube

I didn't think you were, but the way you went about what you said was kind of presumptuous. I also found it slightly offensive because of how you used Christ's name. If you have a difference of opinion can we at least keep things clean? I know we all don't have the same beliefs but please respect others. Thanks mini/smile My focus in Brickfilming is not to make money on YouTube right now. But I will say that if I can make money at something I enjoy then that is awesome!

Copyright issues in terms of music. When I think of what music I want for a scene i'm planning, I generally know just what song/instrumental beat I want, and any other song just never seems as potent. And the song I think of usually isn't a royalty free song that you find on the web.

I'm just nervous that my films would be taken down for copyright infringement, seeing several of the ones i'm planning would certainly use copyrighted song(s).

Don't be fooled, my avatar is a facade of conformity.

Youtube muted few of my old videos back in 2010 and that was enough for me with all the copyright infringement. I know that it sucks that you can't use some of the awesome music that is out there for your projects even though they'd fit perfectly together, but I'd recommend picking some music in jamendo.com, licensing it under one of the CC licenses and sleepin' well because you'll know youtubez can't touch your videos.

Right now that could be the truth. I became a partner back in 2011 march/april, right now I dunno what am I, because everyone is basically a youtube partner (everyone can monetize their vids) but I'm one of those guys who also has access to the features so I guess I'm "old partner" or "partner dinosaur" or whatever mini/bigsmile and sure, feel free to call me Larry mini/wink

Re: YouTube

That be correct.

You must be part of a network in order to have access to the "old Partner" features.
For instance, Machinima is (to my knowledge) the largest network on YouTube at the moment.
You could apply for that, but I doubt they let just anyone in.

Re: YouTube

Really? You can't get banners and stuff directly through YouTube anymore?

Yes, most of the time I can find a way to use non copyrighted music. But sometimes, especially in the film i'm making, it's the presence of a track that's so well known that adds to the potency of the moment.

But anyway, my original question was whether or not I should give up YouTube's high traffic rate, for Vimeo's less strict copyright policies and over all (IMO) better layout and ease of use.

Re: YouTube

That's entirely up to you to decide. I myself love the fact that my videos are being watched a lot which only leaves me one option... to stay at youtubez mini/smile

Re: YouTube

Hmm, I suppose I could upload my films to both YouToob and Vimeo, in which case if I have trouble with either site, at least i'll have a buffer.

Re: YouTube

So how exactly can you get the full partnership (with banners and such)? I'm getting confuzzled.

Re: YouTube

You have to be employed by a network.

For example, CaptainSparklez works as a director for Machinima.

Re: YouTube

I mean without a network, like LarryStudios.

Re: YouTube

Anyone?
