I noticed Royalty free music isn't exactly, well free.

Exactly - it's just free of royalties.
Here's a site to get free music and free sound effects from:
http://www.partnersinrhyme.com/
I would put MachinimaSound up there for music. It's free.
Is it me or is royalty spelt wrong in the banners in the first post...
I'd like to say that Machinima Sound is also a great site for royalty free music.
Is it me or is royalty spelt wrong in the banners in the first post...
Crap! it is! Well, that's why checking spelling is important, I'll fix that in a bit.
EDIT:
I updated the banners, I corrected some spelling, and I added some descriptions to my Music list. I feel accomplished.

Is iLife sound FX (included with Apple programs) royalty free music?
Also, LEGO.com has a range of free SFX on their site. It's not many, but they use them in most of their films, and say you can too

Free instrumental music is also available from www.royaltyfreeze.com. More information about the usage rights are on the page www.royaltyfreeze.com/free-background-music
Sometimes I feel like a lot of royalty free music sounds the same. That's why I usually use copyrighted music, despite the drawbacks. However I found a few websites that have music by professional indie bands that have been released under the creative commons.
You've probably heard of this one... Archive.org
it also has a lot of video. But the main reason I like it is because it has songs by a bunch of old public domain artists, like Russ Columbo and Edith Piaf. There is also a really great modern day folk punk band by the name of Defiance, Ohio. They are a really great band, I especially like their songs Lambs At The Slaughter, Condition 11:11, and New World Order. (they have 3 other albums but I haven't listened to them yet...)
Also another one is the Free Music Archive. It has a really huge variety of music, and is very easy to find what you are searching for. However, not all of the artists on this site have released their music under the Creative Commons, so do some research before you use it in your film.
Finally, Jamendo. I haven't done much research on this one but they've got some J-pop. As well as other stuff.
Im looking for a good walk cycle sound effect. Can't find anyone. Anyone know any good?
This thread, I think, is more for music than sound effects, so bear that in mind, but while you're here - it's far better to make your own walk cycles from a single footstep repeated multiple times - that way, you can more accurately adjust it to suit the speed of your character(s).
@Genzarata - True enough, but i've found it works even better to take a full recorded walk cycle and chop that up and time it accordingly. That way you still the mid step scuffle sounds, etc, and you don't get the obvious repetitive footstep noise that plagues so many brickfilms.
Completely free royalty free music (yes, that's two times free!) on our website royaltyfreeze.com. If you need music for a non-commercial project you don't pay anything
Grab it while you can!

Hey!
I found another website with free royalty music: www.nosoapradio.us . Most of the music there is electronic, but if you search intensiveley, you'll also find other music there.
I'm also composing royalty music, you can find my music on my YouTube channel.
I'm just beginning to compose music. I hope I can help somebody with that, it would be nice if somebody would even use it ;D
Have a nice day!

Thank you to Real Brick for compiling this list. I'm using some of these sites for sounds for an animation for school.
In case anyone needs it, I uploaded some royalty free music on my soundcloud, for obvious reasons, the three bottom pieces are still not royalty free, but anything with (Royalty Free) written in the title is.
