Something In The Wood.

youtube.

This film has dark lighting. You may have to turn your screen brighter.
I spent my last few weeks on this two minute horror animation. It's kind of a test for building up tension.
Sometime in the near future I will start work on a ten minute long or more brickfilm which will be a horror. I have never really done horror so you might
see some more short horror tests like this.

Re: Something In The Wood.

The fact that the film is so dark makes it pretty unique and entertaining. I speak for myself and no one else but I liked it. It's pace is kinda slow but that probably was good because it added to the build-up. Why is the title "Wood" and not "Woods"? I'm just a little curious mini/smile Oh and the monster or whatever it was which killed the guy kinda looked like giant worm/sausage that was also weirdly cool.

Re: Something In The Wood.

Very nice. The animation was quite smooth, and the lighting was well done. Although I think it could of been a bit brighter, just to help the audience see things clearer. But that is just my thoughts. Good work, the monster thing at the end was really neat. What did you make it out of?

Nope. Not clay. It's actually a rock I found on a beach when I was about five. I used to like it because of it's weird color.
And your other other question,

well, I wanted it to be a little more unique.

Re: Something In The Wood.

Oh snap! I didn't guess it right, well anyways, great short film!

Re: Something In The Wood.

Thanks and also, thanks for the feedback. mini/smile

Re: Something In The Wood.

Cool, my comment is on youtube.
Isn't also 'The Wood' a more English term (if I'm not mistaken)? I know C.S. Lewis used that term in one of his books.

Re: Something In The Wood.

Great job on this one Isaac! Overall you did a great job at building the tension and providing suspense. The lighting (or lack there of) was just right for this animation. I'd like to see more! The only thing I would suggest changing is how towards the end, the camera stays on one shot with barely any movement happening (when he is standing next to the horse). Though long duration shots like this can add to the tension if used right, this one seemed to work against you a little. This could be helped by cutting between several different shots here. A shot from inside of the woods looking out at the man (perhaps from ground level) would have been a nice touch, giving the audience a feel of him being watched. Nice job though! mini/smile

Thanks for the advise Repelling Spider! mini/smile
Yeah..I might try moving the camera a bit more next time.

Re: Something In The Wood.

I love the lighting and props but maybe this isn't very scary, thought the minifig will found some mysterious or creepy stuff but not, anyway it's pretty good. Keep it going, and it is very smooth, I guess 24 FPS.

Re: Something In The Wood.

This is cool! It reminds me a lot of my Patient 24 film! Farmer... wakes up in bed... goes and checks on his horse... haha. Good job though, the lighting is neat.

Anyways,I liked the film, although I saw some choppyness in the animation. 4.5/5.
Also, was that your hand at the end?

Re: Something In The Wood.

I like the fact that it's unique, I have in fact never seen anything like that before. Good job.

Yes (blushes) I was inspired by patient 24.
(Edit) I just watched patient 24 again...I can say myself that it's exactly the same, lol, sorry.
mini/sad  I just made it as a test for building up tension (like I've all ready said). Didn't even write a script.
