Topic: Star Trek Discussion

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I searched through the whole General Film Discussion forum and the Community Forum and I didn't find a thread like this.

Well anyway, few weeks ago, I watched a great live-action series called "Spaced Out" by a brilliant brickfilmer, Leftfield Studios, and I couldn't stop laughing. So I thought I should finally watch Star Trek because it's, well, a classic. And today I finally did; I watched the first episode of "The Original Series" named "The Man Trap" and it was brilliant. The writing was great, I didn't actually get lost in the story at all and it was just great. One thing that creeps me out is Green though. That guy's face scares me, I don't know why but I reaaaaally didn't like all the extreme close-ups of his face in the episode. mini/tongue

Anyway, this thread is dedicated to Star Trek. Discuss anything about Star Trek. And as you may know, J. J. Abrams is working on a sequel to his first Star Trek film, whose last work, Super 8, I enjoyed very much.

TNG > TOS

Re: Star Trek Discussion

The Original Series doesn't quite suit my fancy, but I do love me the characters from TOS. I love everything about The Next Generation. I'm a doooork

Kirk is a better captain than Pricard, Data is better than every single character on the whole thing

Re: Star Trek Discussion

TOS>TNG without TOS first of all there would've never been TNG mini/tongue besides I just like the TOS characters more. Spocky, Jim, Bones, Chekov and others. Even the uniforms look right to me (yellow, blue and red).

Bought series 1 of TNG a few weeks back and loved it. Need to see more. RedLetterMedia's reviews of the TNG movies by Mike Stoklasa got me interested in it, and I'd recommend those to everyone who's got an extremely dark and tasteless sense of humor and isn't under the age of about 14 (link).

Wrath of Kahn is also rather awesome.

Just finished watching the original series. So let me say this: Picard.

So yeah, I'm back from my mind.

Re: Star Trek Discussion

Oh, and here is the link to the first episode of "Spaced Out." You should watch it if you haven't, it's hilarious. I'm pretty sure it makes fun of TOS, though.

Re: Star Trek Discussion

But the real question is:
Who is better, Spock or Data?
hehehe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ru9e2rTHeuk I think there is a clear answer to that.

Re: Star Trek Discussion

Ever since i was little, I've absolutely loved Star Trek! mini/delirium

Seriously. It's a delightful blend of cool stories, comedy, adventure, and scifi.

I'd have to say TNG is my favorite show of all of them being with so many great characters like Picard, Worf and Data, who are just so awesome, but I still really love TOS since it's classic and it's got Spock, along with Voyager, mainly because of the EMH.

Also, I even have a Star Trek profile picture on Facebook

Re: Star Trek Discussion

I cannot believe that no one has mentioned Star Trek: Enterprise yet. Although it isn't as good TNG, it pretty underrated. It's on Netflix if anyone is interested.

Actually, every single Star Trek show is on Netflix instant play, I believe.

Yes, to every geek's delight. mini/delirium
I've finished watching all the Enterprise episodes, and I'm working through TNG. TOS is overrated in my opinion.

Re: Star Trek Discussion

Ha ha overrated mini/bigsmile it's a late 60's show and look how well it was done. The new Star Trek series (all the ones after TNG) IMO were complete BS for such and old show TOS is superb.

Not to mention how low their budget was. They had such a low budget, they told the extras not to do anything. Anything. Because they would have to pay them more. mini/lol I remember the first episode I saw was the Doomsday Machine. Still one of my favorites to this day.

Re: Star Trek Discussion

I actually watch the series on this site: http://www.startrek.com/videos
It includes TOS, TNG, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Enterprise, The Animated Series and some behind the scenes and some documentaries. The whole series, online.
