Topic: Spy Film

Hey everyone, yesterday I posted a teaser video in the WIPs forum about a spy themed film I'm considering. The main characters are a brother and sister team: Evan and Sierra. Ideas include a series, and interactive adventure, or a short film. Tell me which you would like best. Any ideas or tips you can think of? Let me know please. mini/smile  The plot is still forming in my head and I don't have anything solid on it yet, but here is a video to give you a taste of what it's going to look like:

Re: Spy Film

Cool spies! The problem is that this idea is overused...

Re: Spy Film

It should be a short film.  Series I find to be boring.  Same for interactive adventure.  And the brother and sister is sort of something from the spy kids movies( not like you shouldn't make it that way).

Re: Spy Film

Series with an occasional interactive video. mini/smile

Re: Spy Film

I would do a short film.
Also, would you mind showing us a BTS pic on how you did the lighting for the intro of Sierra on the 2nd spy video?
That would be awesome! mini/smile

Re: Spy Film

Hmm... probably a series, they are the most fun to watch. And the storyline would have to be special, as in different. Just an idea mini/bigsmile

Re: Spy Film

If the script is written well it still can be entertaining. Besides I'd rather watch this guy's spy movie than a bunch of  superhero brickfilms which are truly overused.

Re: Spy Film

Thanks one and all for your comments so far. It really has helped me to figure out what exactly I need to do with this film. I'm going to try my best to make it different and not something cliche. After posting this thread last night I started thinking about it and felt like perhaps a spy movie was too overused and typical but I'm confident I can make this something more. Thanks once again! I'll continue to post updates as I have them.

Re: Spy Film

It isn't overused, it's just some spy films are better than others (i.e. the Mission: Impossible saga wins against the Spy Kids saga). But, for some ideas. Let's say that Evan and Sierra are secretly competing against each other to find and capture the antaganist.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

The funny thing is I completely forgot about the Spy Kids series when I thought up this idea. I haven't ever watched a Spy Kids movie in my life except perhaps a few scenes from it and I must say I'm not impressed. mini/lol Anywho, as you say, I'll definitely have to try new things and think differently. I'll put some sort of twist on it to make it stand out. mini/smile

Re: Spy Film

I like where this is going, Repelling Spider. Seems like a cool idea.

Here's a great exmaple of a spy brickfilm. (IMO)

Thanks! And yes, ZachMG did a great job on that film, it's one of my favorites. I've realized I need to break free of the typical "break into office or corporate building" type plot. I'm not saying ZachMG's is bad because of that, I love it and he did it well. It would be hard though to make that plot interesting as it's been done so many times.

That's true. If I get any ideas or suggestions I will definantly let you know. mini/smile

Re: Spy Film

The minifigures are really cool. mini/smile I'd like to watch something like that...

I'd suggest making some story which involves a really cool spy action/sneaking scene with awesome music, and heavily slanted camera angles. Also, try experimenting with odd, but dramatic lighting.

Re: Spy Film

Thank you both! @ANP, I hadn't really thought much about slanted camera angles, but that is a terrific idea. I'll have to try that more. Dramatic lighting is must! mini/smile

Re: Spy Film

interactive adventure

I'm back, not like you guys cared

Re: Spy Film

I hate interactive adventures.

Re: Spy Film

See, I enjoy playing interactive adventures provided they have a good plot, but I'm not sure I would enjoy making one. For such a project as this I'm beginning to lean towards a short film. It's still up in the air though, I'll let everyone know when it finally comes down.
