The precious... must haves it!
just when i thought the buzz lightyear head was the creepiest lego piece...
why does the Golem look so much cooler then the other one ![]()
when these sets come out it will be the happiest day of my life.
EDIT sorry for quoting such a large photo I figured since it was a new page it would be okey.
Maybe I should read these books first actually... I am in the middle of The Hobbit and I am going to read the trilogy next.
Now, although I have no idea what these sets are talking about, they are awesome.
If you're refering to the design, I read somewhere that the poster is the "Smeagol" face, and the figure is the "Gollum." As by the time Shelob come on-screen Gollum has turned against Frodo and Sam, and has shifted entirely over to his "Gollum/Stinker" side. While the poster is before that, and is depicting his "Smeagol/Slinker" side. This poster may hint at a future release of Gollum before he tuns against them. (If you don't know what Slinker and Stinker mean, get off-line, and if you don't own them, get a hold of them, and read the books....NOW!)
That, or the designers of the posters wanted his face to be nearer to the poster that has been "Lego-fied", which is probably closer to the truth.
and read the books....NOW!
indeed... their my favorite novels besides Frankenstein.

i can't wait for this
Must...animate...the...new...horse!
Lots of Pieces i could use for the Wizard of OZ... and the Lord of the Rings are my favorite books (beside from the Hunger Games). ![]()
I have a feeling Lord of the Rings films will be quite prevalent for a while...
They're going to do the Hobbit as well. Time for me to actually watch the 3 films then -.- Might get Gandalf Arrives.
"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" official sets are now confirmed! ![]()
If only it had pictures...
is it just me, or since Lego lost the sole rights to the brick as such, have they been smashing kre-o or what?...
Lego has ALWAYS been the top dog in the construction toys. MegaBloks is the closest competitor, and now Kre-o has come on the scene, but their no where near the quality of Lego. Tyco was the only brand with similar quality, but was very small-scale and ran out of business a while ago, so nothing on the market today is even worthy of being on the same aisle.
The common reasons people would even think about the others are:
A. Licensed themes that Lego doesn't have. (Spider-man 3/The Amazing Spider-man, Halo, Power Rangers, Need For Speed, and formerly Pirates of the Caribbean,)
B. Modern military type weapons/sets.
C. (Supposedly) cheaper prices.
D. Not knowing the (obvious) difference.
E. The more articulated mini-figs.
And if being overall better isn't enough, Lego knocks them out of the park with having Marvel, DC (And Man of Steel), LOTR, Star Wars and The Hobbit sets!

It's a pity the discontinued the PotC sets... They had really great designs. These look pretty good too, I haven't read the books or seen the films but they look well designed.

I have to say, I don't really like Bombur's beard at all, but I agree that Bofur's hat is pretty cool. I can't wait 'til these sets come out, I hope my wallet is nice and full then! XP
Well, in the high-res pic that I just found thanks to Eurobricks, it appears like the beard is part of an over-the-head Ewok-type piece that is covering his whole body. Perhaps the part is being used to represent his great....umm...bulk.
I'm going to wait for better pictures to cast my judgement on it, but I will say that Balin looks suspiciously like a hatless Santa Clause in that outfit.
Edit: Found an even bigger picture, so I changed the link.
EDIT 2:
