I do wonder if The LEGO Groups target demographic (Ages 5-12) would be interested in LOTR or the Hobbit. The Hobbit and especially Lord of the Rings would be quiet a bit above most of that age groups reading level. Heck, I am in Junior High, and when we were assigned to read The Hobbit, I was one of the only kids who liked the book (And probably one of the few who understood it). Not to mention that most of the movies would be to long to keep there attention.
What I am saying is that it is weird that the Lego Group is making sets based on something their target audience might not find interest in. (Though it would be kind of justified if they made these similar to the Modular Builds, in that they are more complex builds geared towards AFOL's.)

I think I'm going to get all but The Battle for Helm's Deep (The biggest one), and I'm stopping there simply because my money will run out at that point.

there going to be Really expensive 
all the hobbits look a lot alike but that was a problem I had with the movie too.
EDIT: hang on I just saw the ring. okey no matter how expensive the sets are I have to get at least one. (maby twelve)

LOTR legos, I almost pooped my pants (almost doesn't count). I better start saving money!
Am I the only one who noticed the new horse pieces? The back legs piviot, look at the big pucture.

I hope that the horse will solve our animating problems with horse movments!
Also, here's a minigure list for the sets:
9469 Gandalf Arrives: Frodo and Gandalf
9470 Shelob Attacks: Frodo, Sam and Smeagol (Well...Gollum, not our admin. )
9471 Uruk-Hai Army: Eomer, Rohan soldier and 4 Uruk-Hai
9472 Attack on Weathertop: Frodo, Merry, Aragorn and two Ringwaiths/Nazgul (Both on horses!)
9473 The Mines of Moria: Pippin, Gimli, Legolas, Boromir, Cave troll, Two Moria orcs. (Prelim pics showed it with two dwarf skeletons, but I don't know if the final has them or not.)
9474 The Battle of Helm’s Deep:Gimli, King Theoden, Haldir, Aragorn and 4 Uruk-Hai
9476 The Orc Forge:5 Orcs (Some may be Uruk-Hai.)
We should know a lot more, and have a lot more pictures, once the New York Toy fair opens Feb 11th.

At least the horse's legs can now rear and kick back, which will help greatly with running.
