Re: OSCARS winners (2012)

Eh, everything went as expected. Still would have been awesome for Rooney Mara to get Best Actress. Oh well.
Glad Rango nabbed Best Animated Feature and that Bret McKenzie got an Oscar.

I love the winner of best animated short film.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Adzywe9xeIU if you would like to see it , just click.

I'm working on getting my studio back up and running, so stay posted...

Re: OSCARS winners (2012)

Rango got best animated film, so I'm pretty happy, that being the only one about which I really cared. mini/smile

I decided to go to sleep early to wake up around 4 so I could watch the show this morning instead of staying up super late.
And I enjoyed it. mini/smile

The main characters looks like Buster Keaton to me. Also, the beginning totally reminds me of Steambot Bill Jr (one of his movies). Could it be a reference or I'm just seeing things?
For the rest, I can't say anything, I only saw two of the movies that got nominated (Tree of life, Midnight in Paris).

Re: OSCARS winners (2012)

I didn't even bother watching this year. Glad Rango won, though I would have liked to have seen Tintin at least nominated for Best Animated.

Re: OSCARS winners (2012)

It wasn't animated!

Re: OSCARS winners (2012)

FAIL! EPIC FAIL! THE OSCARS ARE AN EPIC FAIL!
The oscars are judged on how many oscars the person has won previously, not the quality of the film. Sure it's sometimes related, like John Williams winning like 20 oscars, but what it ends up as is an elitist infinite feedback loop.
The Oscars are extremely corrupt in my opinion. How did Transformers even get nominated at all when We Bought a Zoo, an obvious masterpiece in more ways than one, was not even mentioned?
And how many oscars has Meryle Streep won?

Rango? Yeah, it's animated. It's performance capture, though. So, it's hard to tell.

It was nominated for best original score. But, I agree. Especially the credits music. The jazzy-like music was real catchy.

He was talking about Tintin, Tintin is performance capture. But anyway, I saw actually pretty much none of the films that were nominated for the Best Picture except Midnight in Paris which was a great film. I also hate the fact Andy Serkis wasn't nominated for the Best Supporting Actor because of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Other than that, I'm happy that Rango won Best Animated Feature, but it was quite obvious it would. And I thought Billy Crystal was quite a good hoster, he was actually pretty funny (I liked the bit where he "read" people's minds). So yep, otherwise I'm kinda careless about the rest of the winners, as I didn't see nearly all the films that were nominated.

aww there were no good movies Why does Hugo Get Tons of Oscars mini/blankexpression

Re: OSCARS winners (2012)

Basically, the Oscar's are just the opinion of a couple of thousand people - most of them over 60 years old. Like the Grammy's, The Golden Globes, The BAFTA's, The BRIT's, and Cannes; its just a bunch of peoples opinions. Its anything but definitive, and usually the Academy makes mistakes (Citizen Kane? Apocalypse Now? Pulp Fiction? The Social Network? All these are infamous Oscar snubs) because they choose movies that are safe and, whilst very good, wont age well. (This being said, The Artist will probably still be remembered in 10 years time)

Also, they like to shower one particular movie with awards - which in my opinion completely de-values the entire ceremony. There is no value or meaning behind the little golden man if just one movie can take home a ton of them. Its like if a friend you know owns five swimming pools, and you own one. Suddenly, your one little swimming pool is irrelevant compared to your friends collection.

I wasn't "rooting" for anyone, but, I kinda wanted "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" to get Best Picture and Best Director. Even though I only saw the trailer for that movie, I really enjoyed it. I used to know some people who were very affected by 9/11.
