That's what I meant, Squash. Nominations is what I meant. I am just frustrated they don't recognize films by some hipster they haven't heard of before, even if it's good. That was just a fact that I read off another thread.
And lol, Jargon, I'm fine with people disagreeing with me. It's just that people have a tendency to be rather harsh towards me and I didn't want another repeat of, for example, in the Youtube thread where everypony was calling me a spiteful child and RAWRing in my face and stuff like that.
Also, even five oscars is a lot more than zero. I think anyone would agree with me on that.

I also have to say that this thread has kind of degenerated...

EDIT: Aw, shucks, it's just a silly awards contest. Im going to try not to think about it. There are plenty more respectable film festivals that actually acknowledge talent, like Sundance or whatever its called. :)

I find it kind of ironic, topitmunkeydog, that you are requesting that people refrain from flaming you or arguing with you and your opinions when all of your posts in this thread have been railing against the opinions of the Academy. I'm not saying I agree with the choices made, but if you want to proffer your opinions in a public forum, it's not fair to stifle the debate of those who may disagree with you.
Williams has one maybe 20 oscars.
I think everyone here would appreciate it if you'd put in the effort to Google these things yourself. John Williams has won five Oscars. Now, it could be argued that his having been nominated forty-seven times supports your opinion, but claiming that he has won around twenty Oscars is a gross misstatement.

Also, since you asked in a previous post- Meryl Streep has won three Oscars.

Somepony in my school who's taking film says that apparently the Oscars are based on which film bribed the judges with the most money.

Here's what I mean, Cinexcellence. Listen to the soundtrack to the Tintin movie, and then listen to the soundtrack to We Bought a Zoo. In my opinion the Tintin soundtrack, a work by a composer I highly respect, is even so one of John William's weaker scores (not bad of course, but it's not his best.) Williams has one maybe 20 oscars.
Now the we bought a zoo score, by front singer of the Icelandic band Sigur Ros, is a debut score by Jonsi. It's nevertheless innovative and fresh and has 100x more emotion than the Tintin soundtrack. That's my musical opinion so please don't flame me.
What I am saying is Mr. Oscar is afraid of giving awards to up and coming new talents for fear that it will be criticized. Yeeeessssss, I know there are exceptions, so please don't backtroll. I have rights to my own opinion.

And Max Butcher, I completely agree with you on that.
Transformers was nominated for technical awards (visual effects, sound, etc.). Do you not think that it deserved it?
NO!
Even watching Bay discuss the "Magic of movies" during the introductory VT for the award brought my blood to a boil. Uncle Vernon has more magic than all of Bay's movies combined!!

I'm shocked The Tree of Life wasn't even nominated for Best Visual Effects - simply because it used little to no computers when creating this.

But again, the Oscars is just a group of peoples opinions....
FAIL! EPIC FAIL! THE OSCARS ARE AN EPIC FAIL!
The oscars are judged on how many oscars the person has won previously, not the quality of the film.
I'm not following what you're talking about. Could you be more specific? You mention a person, so I'm assuming actor/actress, but then you say quality of film, so I'm not sure what awards you're referring to.
How did Transformers even get nominated at all when We Bought a Zoo, an obvious masterpiece in more ways than one, was not even mentioned?
Transformers was nominated for technical awards (visual effects, sound, etc.). Do you not think that it deserved it?

I wasn't "rooting" for anyone, but, I kinda wanted "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" to get Best Picture and Best Director. Even though I only saw the trailer for that movie, I really enjoyed it. I used to know some people who were very affected by 9/11.
