That fellow (and TopDraw as a whole) doesn't know anything. DHX/Studio B are the ones that write and storyboard the episodes. TopDraw is in no position to make statements about what will and won't be in the show's future.
Don't bet on seeing Derpy in Season 3 at this point.
I think the new voice was fine, actually (although I still prefer the old one), it's not really that bad. The main problem I have with this new version though is that it doesn't sound natural. And, they fixed her eyes.
But I think you're exaggerating by saying that she won't be in season 3.
Well, I hope it is an exaggeration.

I'm afraid you're correct. Hasbro was the one who pulled the Derpy plug. I hope they give some explanation, and that it isn't what we're all fearing it is.

No exaggeration there unfortunately.
After having 24 hours to think about it, I believe I have come to a solid opinion on the matter:
Derpy's new voice is fine. In fact, it's better that she sound feminine. While it's not the voice that made us rejoice on 21/1/2012 (weird that I can remember when The Last Roundup actually aired.), and there are some minor inflections in her voice that make it sound off (like the sudden change in pitch upwards at the end of "...anything I can do to help?"), the new voice is a good substitute. It makes Derpy seem more intelligent, friendlier, and less drunk (the original cheer for Applejack made me cringe). Again, Derpy's new voice is fine
The underping of Derpy's eyes is fine. Ignore my previous thoughts on the matter. Prior to the episode (and even still), I thought of Derpy's condition as being much more passive, much like a lazy eye. Essentially, she was a normal pegasus, whose eyes would occasionally drift away, especially if she wasn't focused on anything in particular. She would still have control over her eyes, and would be able to focus them if she so desired. I've been frustrated by the rather chronic state of derp the animators place Derpy in; not once after Winter Wrap Up did we see Derpy with normal eyes. Again, underping Derpy's eyes was fine.
The re-dubbing of most of Rainbow Dash's lines was fine. The change in tone made RD seem more genuinely concerned for Derpy's sake and like less of an a-hole. This is another thing I've been annoyed by recently, and why I complained about RD's reaction to the book from Read It and Weep. Had she discovered reading for herself instead of essentially saying that reading was beneath her in front of her friends faces and insulting Twilight, RD would have definitely seemed like less of an a-hole. Again, changing the tone of RD's lines was fine.
What didn't settle with me was one particular thing about the re-dubbing of Rainbow Dash's lines, and that was the removal of Derpy's name altogether. That was the one thing I was dreading more than ever, and to see that Derpy is no longer officially named is sad.
So Sean (still so weird), I too think you're being dramatic when you say that Derpy won't be appearing in Season 3, unless you can back it up with a reputable source. Everything we've been told so far has been that Derpy's going to be alright. We still have no word from Hasbro about why they changed the line. It could very well be for some other reason.
Like I've said before, Derpy has never been an epithet to my knowledge, so the claim that they're removing Derpy for sensitivity/litigious reasons holds no personal merit.

All I'm going to say is that I don't tend to make a big deal over something if I don't have a good reason to. I'm limited to how much I can say publicly and I'm doing all I actually can.

^ Also, this.
That certainly changes things...
So now they're actually stripping away DHX's creative freedom?
Wow I just got really depressed.
I don't want to think it's that extreme, but dammit if that isn't sad to think about.
So now they're actually stripping away DHX's creative freedom?
This is the first public example of this happening. My concern is that it goes further downhill. That said, I have utmost faith that DHX will continue to do their utmost to produce the show at as high a quality as possible.
Finally, some words that hold real weight.
The issue I see here is that "Derp" is not a real word as defined by reputable literature groups (i.e. the Dictionary writers), and thus is subject to constant change. I've never heard "Derp" used as an epithet for the mentally handicapped before, but apparently someone else has, and thus its use as such is "out there" without being officially incorrect. So the only real way to solve this issue the way the I want it to be solved is to get one (or more) of the Dictionaries to be published with Derp as a bona fide word with an indisputable definition that does NOT include any mention of mental handicaps. Realistically, this is a pipe dream, and I am happy the decision that was reached in light of the situation.

I always thought "derp" meant a funny face someone made unintentionally. :I
Don't know about you guys, but I'm extremely happy with both Hasbro's and Amy's responses to this whole malarkey.

I thought it was like a brain-fart with a weird face.
Good answer. Amy Keating Rogers gets 20 points.
There will not be a new episode on 10/3/2012. (3/10/12 for those of us here in The States.)
Eh? The Hub says Putting Your Hoof Down airs the third.
Eh? The Hub says Putting Your Hoof Down airs the third.
If you read the first part the way us Americans normally do, that says October 3rd. Read the second part.
It's a habit of mine to write the date the European way.
The American way is ridiculous.
