Re: Who are your favorite directors?

Oh look, I never saw this thread. I may as well post some of my favourite directors, but I have to point out one thing: I consider myself as someone who hasn't seen enough movies to decide preferences with sureness (is that correct?).

Terry Gilliam (Time Bandits; Brazil; Adventures of Baron Munchausen; 12 Monkeys; Fisher King; Parnassus...)
Aside from the fact that he made my favourite movie (Brazil), I love his style, his use of really wide angles, the stories he tells. And mostly, the creativity and imagination he puts in every of his movies. It's even more impressive to know all of the problems he had during the production of his films, because one does not notice them (maybe Parnassus is the only exception, but I personally didn't notice anything). There are still a few movies I haven't seen, but for now he has never disappointed me.

Werner Herzog (Aguirre, Wrath of god; Wild Blue Yonder; Encounters at the End of the World)
I haven't seen many of his works, but from the first movie I saw (Encounters at the End of the World, which made me want to go to antarctica) I already started to like him. The second movie I saw by him, was the most creative use of documentary footage I've ever seen (Wild Blue Yonder), and from there I really got interested. The third movie was Aguirre, Wrath of God, which I've seen recently, and flew directly into my top 3 (right after Singing in the Rain). What I like about him? I don't know really. I sure love the stories.

I may complete the list later. (btw, it's interesting to read and see how people changed in these two years)
