Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

Btw is there a way to be able to post this in the Contests & Festivals forum?
When I went to post it there it said:
"Sorry! no permission to post new topics"
Is there a way to get permission?

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

No, because your contest is terrible.

Usually a moderator will move your thread to the C&F forum but in this case probably not.

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

I'm sorry for coming off a bit harsh in that last post, but here's why I think your contest is bad.

First of all, it mainly seems like you're doing this to try to get more subscribers and try to make yourself out to be popular or something. I don't see the point of having a contest if the only reason you're doing it is to make yourself look good. I mean, your prizes are being boxed in your channel. To me that's both a bad prize and really egotistical.

Second, the theme of this contest is dreadful. You have no creative idea so you're doing a contest based off of successful franchises. Not only has this kind of thing been done by countless other people, it's really stupid and shouldn't have been done by other people in the first place.

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

I want to see more light saber duels and I have yet to see a disk war, it's not because I can't come up with a creative idea.
And I mean this contest to be for beginners so that they can win something for once, even if that something isn't much they can still say "I won!"
But any none beginners are still welcome to enter.
And why not try and get some subscribers along the way?
EDIT: It's okay people have been ruder then you before.

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

What I'm saying is that basing your contest on or even just making a film about a successful franchise has been done to death and shouldn't be done. Disc battles aren't creative, you just took it directly from the movie and even labeled the contest "Tron and Star Wars". Also, you know why you haven't seen any disc battles in a LEGO film before? Because it's bloody impossible to do unless you know CGI. Even without CGI to make it look slightly believable would mean to go in in After Effects and most people (including myself mini/tongue ) do not know how or do not have the money to do that. Especially for a beginner, it would be especially difficult for a beginner. Though they could improve because of it, if you're making your contest for beginners, try doing an easier contest.

There are some people in the brickfilming community who know CGI, but they're usually people who know it from intensive study. Normally beginners have no idea how to make disc battles, so basically the only "creative" thing about this contest and why you're doing it is a failure.

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

Haha, I see your point.
EDIT: But I still want this contest to have light saber duels in it.
The video must contain a Tron disk war duel or Star Wars Lightsaber duel of "some sort." It doesn't have to be great.

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

Great, you're manipulating the YouTube rating system to create success for yourself and offering no creativity for your entrants to work with. Subscribing is only to show someone you like their content. Liking a video should be used only if you actually enjoy the video, and nobody cares about being boxed on a channel, because it doesn't mean anything to them. I could have my YouTube channel pasted on the most watched channel on YouTube and I guarantee I wouldn't get  too many new viewers. Don't host a contest when the whole thing worships you, and don't plaster your announcement in the releases section of the forum, where we post content.

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

I do. . . and if it doesn't mean anything to you then don't enter my contest mini/tongue
If you don't like my contest it's fine by me, I just don't see why you would waste your time posting a reply to a contest you don't even like.

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

You should work on your animation a LOT more before you go release a contest with your name written all over it.

I'm working on getting my studio back up and running, so stay posted...

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

That was old footage I had in the video, and besides it wasn't that bad.
TheBrickHead Thanks! I'm glad to hear it!

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

I can't stand contests were you have to be subscribed to the you tube channel.

otherwise I think the disk war idea sounds interesting except like it was said above  it would be really hard to do. mini/eh

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

No REAL prizes?
This is how all youtube n00bs do contests-not buying prizes, but having subscribers as prizes-pathetic.
First of all,make better videos.
Second, get some money so that you can buy the prizes.
Third-why did you post this is in releases when we post BRICKFILMS there?
You're doing this because you want to get more subscribers.
Also,a GOOD lightsaber duel is VERY hard to make, and a tron disk war seems impossible.

your jumping to conclusions.
First, he said that he's doing this because he wasnts to see more of these kind of videos not because he wants subscribers

Second, this is not a video it is a contest therefor he has every right to post it here.

Third, just because its hard doesn't make it impossible and it is usually fun to challenge yourself. mini/bigsmile

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

Dude cooldynamyteproductions I'm working on it.
I think being boxed and just winning a contest is a good enough prize, at least it is for me to enter a contest.
And before you go telling other people to make better videos why don't you do so your self?

I posted it there because it wouldn't let me post it in the Contests & Festivals forum.
And I'm doing this because I'm waiting on a remote for my camera, Edit: and as said before I want to see more of those kind of videos.

a lot of contests you have to be subscribed to in order to win.

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

Sigh... please stop trolling him, guys.
I actually have nothing against these sort of contests. If people don't have the means to send prizes through the mail, for security issues for example, then this is the next best thing.
Although when I tried to make a contest like this before I was on BiM, I got maybe 2 entries and they sucked real bad. So it's not the best idea. It's also nothing to flame about please.

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

well this kid is broke and no real prizes i don't like being boxed from prizes and Tron and Star wars? Disney or LucasArts might get the entries taken down from my guess though. I don't really subscribe to people i don't know. To me being boxed means nothing but worthless watching a guy being in a youtube box.And they're not gonna click on the channel and subscribe straight away.

How about light cycles?

Re: Lego Stop Motion Contest: Tron & Star Wars

The point that this contest is unappealing to many of you has been made. Just Kidden did a good job explaining why that is the case and at this point, there's no need for a bunch of people to keep repeating the same points over and over.
