Topic: Dolly Shot Test

A while ago, I made a test of a camera orbiting a guy. It was actually the last video I made on my old drive before it crashed. I just added movement with this one. It is, by the way, supposed to be shaky.

Don't know what's wrong with the quality. Anyway, here it is:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu_WzQAOoBQ  mini/sunnies

Re: Dolly Shot Test

Not bad, but it doesn't exactly "orbit" the character. However, I do like the shaky look to it and this could make a really nice slow-mo shot in a film! This doesn't exactly pertain to the camera movement you're making here, but I'd try to make the recoil on the gun just a bit faster as it looks too slow. Good job though! mini/smile

I don't really know what else to call it other than an "orbit". Suggestions would be nice.
Also, the recoil, I am really bad at them. They always result as being too slow, (as seen here) or too fast. mini/tongue

That's a type of dolly shot.  I think it's called "bullet-time".

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: Dolly Shot Test

Like everyone else noted, it didn't fully circle the "action" which kind of bugs me. Anyway here is an article on the original Bullet Time.
Also I think it was ZP that had the good realistic gun shot, it works only for pistols though. I used it in my adventurer video if you wanna see what it looks like.

I wasn't actually trying to copy the bullet time movement. I just don't know what to call this camera movement. mini/rolleyes

Re: Dolly Shot Test

Nicely done. When I do it, I usually just rotate the whole set instead of the camera. Sometimes I don't have the patience to do it the way you do. mini/smile

Re: Dolly Shot Test

Wow, this is wonderfull. I liked so much that the camera twisted around the minifig.
