I adore the lighting in the long hallway shot. Nice work.

^ This. I absolutely agree with Sean.

For the actual animation, did you remove the ceiling each frame to animate the minifigure? It must have been tedious, getting your hands in such a small area (even with the ceiling removed). But then again, brickfilming is a tedious hobby.

Listen to Sean, the man is wise.

I love the cinematography in this shot. The camera angles and lighting enhance the dramatic feel (Although it seems to me like it could have benefited from a Hitchcock zoom; maybe it's just me). The animation was pretty good, that the minifigure looked a bit choppy when walking sometimes. Also, the camera seemed to go in and out of focus often (I don't know if this was intentional though). Overall, I like this test and look to be seeing more from you in the future.

Good job, the celing didn't move at all.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: Lego Animation Test With A Ceiling

The lighting for the hallway is quite good as said by Sean and many others. The cinematography was good, I like the camera angle mini/smile. You do need to work on your animation, I think that your walking animation has just a tinch too much hand movement, if I were you I'd tone that down just a little bit. The animation was a tinch choppy, I think the animation is average, above average at most. I really liked the fact that you tried to animate something that was hard to animate. I do know how hard it is to animate something that inclosed. If you were to actually put something like this as apart of a film I'd definitely reshoot it if it had a camera bump. I salute you, good work!

Thanks for all the comments and I will actually be using this exact set (maybe tweaked) in my upcoming film, the walk cycle I am using in that will takes more frame and I will work on the focus issue mini/wink

Re: Lego Animation Test With A Ceiling

One of the things that put me off slightly about this sequence was that when it cuts to a side view of the fig, it feels too far back... The hallway in the first shot is established to be fairly narrow but the side shot makes it feel wider. I'd suggest either pulling the camera in closer for the side shot, or simply scaling up the footage in post.

My brother noticed that when I showed him the footage and upon re-shooting this shot and having the minifig at about a mid-close up range it looks alot better, more confined. Also I added camera movement in the side shot so the sequence looks alot better.

Good call. Looking forward to seeing the result!

The ceiling adds a lot to what most brickfilms are missing. I like it. mini/bigsmile

Thats the reason I added it, I was sick of either being limited with the camera angles I could use or having to make unrealistically high walls in which just look out of proportion, although ever shot with the ceiling takes about 1 hour ever second to film (at 15 FPS).
