Re: Café Corner

Happy New Year, everyone. I thought this would be a fun time to bring up "Goals for 2011" and see how everyone managed over the last year. I personally only accomplished one and a half goals posted in that thread, but I think I can consider 2011 to have been a fairly productive year, all things considered.

Re: Café Corner

1) I haven't had a shower since last year!
2) 2011? That's so last year!

Sadly that's all I've got on the subject. Any resolutions? I'm hoping to pick up my camera and restart my animations again - a task I think many brickfilmers aim to do this year. I don't have any more excuses now the laptop is fixed.

Re: Café Corner

Happy new year...yes, I'm a bit late. I had a great time, first time I spend the last day of the year out with friends.
Resolutions? 720p mini/XD... kidding, I just hope I get to ask a girl out, at least that.

Re: Café Corner

EDIT: We just got back from an animal hospital and they diagnosed him with Pneumonia.  Apparently he has had it for weeks, the pet store never told us and lied that they had brought him to a vet and he was 'fine.'

For Christmas my family got a dog, a day after the vet said it had parasites, it has been fine for a week, but then yesterday it began coughing really badly, all day, and still is now. My parents did research on the place we got the puppy from and apparently according to the town the place is terrible and gives sick and practically dying puppies to customers, and lying and saying they are healthy. My parents don't want to go to the vet they usually go to since they did extensive research last night and it turns out the vet is terrible and even worst than the dog place, and both the vet and dog place work together in a way. I'm really scared for my puppy, I hope he gets better, since if he doesn't, we'll have to give him back where there's a chance the dog place will put him down and he's only 12 weeks old.

Here's what he looks like:

Re: Café Corner

That's very sad, KinzCove. I hope it turns out well for you.

Re: Café Corner

Charlie is now in the animal hospital, but I don't trust them either since they are linked to the terrible pet store and reviews online for the animal hospital talk about unethical techniques and poor treatment of the puppies. I've been crying for hours now, and I probably won't stop, there's a great chance he'll die only a week after I got him. mini/sad

Re: Café Corner

Gee, that's really sad.

If you're going to get another dog, get one from a dog shelter.  I've heard that pet stores get dogs from dog "factories" called puppy mills, and shelters are the better option because those dogs actually need homes and are probably in better condition than a dog from a pet store.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Whoever here has a tumblr, reblog this for me please: http://kinzcove.tumblr.com/post/1520657 … ng-charles

Re: Café Corner

Jesus, that's awful, Kinz. I hope he gets better.

Re: Café Corner

I'm so sorry KinzCove.  What a terrible thing for you to go through.  I hope that your puppy will be okay.  You will be in my prayers.

Re: Café Corner

I'm not one for offering prayers, I don't really believe in that sort of thing, but little Charlie will be in our thoughts. Here's hoping he gets well soon, Kinz.

Not to be the herald of more negativity, but it would appear that Scotland is currently suffering from Hurricane Bawbag Mark II. The winds have been atrocious.

Sounds like a sadistic scheme to con people out of money (by selling sick pets and then making people pay vet bills before putting the poor things down). Have you thought about reporting it to an animal rights agency or some figure of authority?

My prayers are with you and Charlie.

Re: Café Corner

Wow, never use Academic Superstore folks. They offer software at really good student discounts, but if your order has any problems they'll ignore you. I have ordered a few times in the past without issues, but this time they put a digital download order for an available product on "backorder" after charging me, and when I called they told me they can't make any promises about it arriving by any date. Looked them up online and apparently they are criminal as far as not fulfilling orders and not providing a refund either on a fairly regular basis.

Re: Café Corner

I've dealt with them once before... Tried ordering an older version of Flash from them but they said they didn't have any tangible products in stock so I asked for a digital order and then they said they didn't have the license to distribute it mini/confused

Pretty sure it was Academic Superstore, but it was a while ago.

On a sidenote; I've been getting into voice acting very much lately, actually got a job for a local commercial, haha mini/smile

Persist.

Re: Café Corner

I'm thinking of going from windows to ubuntu 11.10 For me, windows is a great system, but Linux Ubuntu would suit my needs more. Does anyone have it?

Re: Café Corner

I play with Ubuntu on occasion and like it a fair amount, but I have to wonder what you're doing for it to suit your needs better than Windows.

Re: Café Corner

I'm running it on one my machines. It's an overall smother experience than Windows, as Windows has a tendency to download 500000000 random programs off the web and run them all at start-up. If you need a serious gaming or similar purpose computer, stick with Windows, but if you just need it for running the web, editing documents, and even editing if you have it on a machine with the right amount of power, go with Ubuntu.

I've NEVER known Windows to download anything but updates uncommanded. It sounds like you have a virus.

My response to this is this.

I'm not a big game player, plus I want to get more into computer programming type of stuff. I've read on multiple websites and seen in videos that Ubuntu runs smoother than windows, plus I've seen many programs that seem to interest me, yet only available on Ubuntu.
