Re: Café Corner

Ubuntu would be best if you're getting in to programming.

Re: Café Corner

We have a question for all you Adobe Illustrator users out there.  We were watching this tutorial, since we were trying to achieve that same bevel effect that they used.  However, we cannot figure out what effect or technique they used at 1:10 for the inside path.  We were able to make the outside path, but we cannot figure out how they made the inner one.  He says he used the "expand stroke" function (which we couldn't find), not to mention the fact that the stroke he is talking about is not expanded, but contracted.  We would be most grateful if one of you could help us out with this!

It may be that he expanded the stroke to a negative value, thus contracting it.

We thought that as well, but as we also mentioned above we couldn't even find that effect!

Re: Café Corner

Well I am now deleting all of the old brickfilming stuff I did. When I first started, I used monkeyjam, and I must have saved a LOT of junk into my documents. I only have 8 GB left on my hard drive.... Kinda from my install of Linux.

As for how ubuntu is coming... I got it all installed. Two main issues: screen resolution and blank screen on startup. For the screen resolution, It says unknown monitor, so it's stuck in 4:3 on my 16:9 laptop. I've read some brief information on how to fix it, but it says I need to create a new .gibberish file and put it in /gibberish/gibberish/.gibberish

For the blank screen, it seems to turn off all LED backlight. I fix it by every time I start it, I edit the boot and enter i915.modeset=0 xforcevesa . To make this permanent I need to edit the grib in etc/default , but I don't know how to save it! Any ideas?

I happy I made it dual boot mini/smile

Re: Café Corner

Did you use a laptop install of ubuntu and not desktop install? I think I fixed the black screen once by auto-detect on my monitor, which (AFAIK) is not possible on a laptop.

Uhh.... I clicked download mini/sweat For me i don't think it makes much of a difference in this case. It is possible to fix what I am trying to fix, but it's just the knowledge of doing so that is holding me up.

Re: Café Corner

Anyone remember that fiasco I had a while back with that brickwarsman dude stealing my CGI mini-figures?

Well, guess who has been featured on BlenderNation's image banner! Of course, he's hjmediastudios now, but I did a little digging, and it's the same exact guy.

Re: Café Corner

I wouldn't trust that thing YouTube has. They say that Falco (writer/performer of 'Rock Me Amadeus') will be performing this month.

Thats going to be a bit difficult considering he died in 1998....

Re: Café Corner

Could be a cover of the song by someone else. In any case, that's weird.

Re: Café Corner

Isn't that the follow-up to the original series?

Re: Café Corner

Sure is, it's set in the future though.

Re: Café Corner

Hey guys, I have this video project that I need to do for my dad's company in the near future. I currently don't have a camera capable of what I need (all i have is a crappy sony handycam, it's grainy and crappy) and I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions as to what I should get. I was thinking a t3i, that way I could use it for brickfilming also, but does it have good enough video capabilities? (im not real familiar with the t3i)

The English Wikipedia is — in protest of SOPA, PIPA, and OPEN — blacking out from 12:00 AM EST 18/1/12 to 12:00 AM EST 19/1/12.

For anyone living in the United States, contact your district representative (e.g. Niki Tsongas - D, Massachusetts 5th District [my district]), and both of your Senators (e.g. John Kerry and Scott Brown) and tell them to vote against these bills.
For anyone outside the United States, contact the Speaker of the House (John Boehner - R, Ohio 8th District), as well as the Party leaders in both Houses (Eric Cantor - R, Virginia 7th District, House Maj. Leader; Nancy Pelosi - D, California 8th District, House Min. Leader; Harry Reid - D, Nevada, Senate Maj. Leader; Mitch McConnell - R, Kentucky, Senate Min. Leader.), and tell them to vote against these bills, and explain how these bills would affect you and your ability to use the Internet, despite living outside the United States.

I know I'm bringing politics to the Internet, which can be a very dangerous thing, but I think the vast majority of us here, and in turn on the Internet, are vehemently opposed to these proposed Acts. They are a violation of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, and in turn to our inalienable rights as 21st Century human-beings. There ought to be an amendment in the U.S. Constitution that protects Americans' rights to access and use the Internet, and protects our digital property from being unreasonably seized and searched.
