Re: THAC 9 Results

Whoa, somehow I missed seeing this until now. At any rate, congrats to the other winners and thanks to everyone who ran the contest and donated prizes! 'Twas fun, as always, although this discussion is becoming rather disheartening.

Re: THAC 9 Results

for zee people that are complaining about the results: ANY ONE COULD WIN, the only reason its the same people win is because they are really GOOD!  if you work hardanuff you can be good as them.

It's amazing how I previously posted something along the lines that Smeagol posted, and yet everyone sucks up to him.

While I was writing my post, you made a short post before me with similar arguments. I liked your post and would have cited it if I had seen it before writing mine, but ahnt quoted mine to say he agreed with the analogy I made. I also brought up an entirely different point, regarding the 2nd place winner, etc. etc. so the two posts weren't that similar.

You are seriously complaining because people responded to my post more?

I feel guilty for making all these critical posts in a thread that was supposed to be celebratory, but hopefully I'm mostly raining on my own parade, here. This thread has provided so many examples of what an immature, petty community of rude children are active on this site right now, and I'm hoping if some of us call you all out on it, you all can come to see how awful your behavior has been and change it in the future.

A contest results thread really doesn't call for anything but congratulations to the entrants and maybe some thoughtful criticism of how the judging process could be improved, or a mention of a favorite entry you had hoped would do better. Please try to show tact and common sense in the future, guys. I have been trying to decide for some months now whether or not it's worth organizing a BiM 2012 contest. You make me want to stop holding official contests on this site, even though that's not really fair to the majority of people who have been gracious and enjoy having contests here.

Congratulations to all who took part! Hope you all participate again mini/smile

Re: THAC 9 Results

Y'all just jealous because I ended ninth.

Re: THAC 9 Results

Congrats to all the winners and losers everyone else! I wish I could enter one of these eventually, but I'm far too slow at everything to be able to make a good flom in a single day.

Re: THAC 9 Results

Congratulations to the winners, successful entrants, and contest host.  Except for the hiccup on the start (which was kinda inconvenient, I'm just sayin') and the promised special guest on the results broadcast (?), this was a well judged and managed contest.  BiM and Cheshire should be proud.  To release the results in a week was awesome and having a live broadcast was a great touch.   You could not ask for a better judges panel.   Let's top it next year with an on time start.  Congrats everyone! @(^_^)@

Re: THAC 9 Results

I give kudos to Cheshire once more with a couple of little suggestions for next year:
1. Cheshire should host again
2. Use the back-up one hour after the appointed start time if the original rules aren't posted in time
3. If we do a live broadcast for the results again, I would think showing the top 3 films after they are announced would be nice.
4. If Cheshire doesn't host again, his conduct, aside from the 2 hour delay, should be an example of how a THAC host should host the contest.

Re: THAC 9 Results

Definitely will invite Cheshire to host THAC X if he's up for it a year from now. There have been multiple THACs with delayed start times now, so we'll have a backup plan in place in the future to keep the delay down to probably something like 15 or 30 minutes tops, shouldn't really be too difficult.

Re: THAC 9 Results

The host should send someone (Sméagol?) a file that contains a the theme and mod elements. Then if they're late, whoever has the file can open it and post the THAC Starts Now thread.

But then that someone (Sméagol?) can't enter mini/sad
Right?

Re: THAC 9 Results

No, he doesn't have to open it unless the host is late.

Re: THAC 9 Results

Thanks to all the entrants for helping make this contest a success! I was pleased to be a part of it.

Re: THAC 9 Results

Congragulations to all the winners! Sadly for me I had to help out with my sister's birthday on THAC day (Depressing, I know) and my laptop was going outright bonkers. But meh, there's still THAC 10, right? Hopefully I can enter that if nothing inconvenient happens.

Back In Black!

Pretty much the idea we had. To make it a little more trustworthy, the idea was to have a password-protected .zip file and give the .zip to one person and the password to another.

Re: THAC 9 Results

I was wondering is there might be a server that "releases" content only at a give time point, but my google was unsuccessful ... anyone?

Cheers Arend

Re: THAC 9 Results

Not a bad idea, ahnt. There are websites that will send an email for you at a specific time.
