Topic: New Studio Wish List

Hey Everyone

I'm building a new studio / office in my basement and I'm wondering if you had a chance to redo your studios, what would you do different.

Some of the things on my "wish list" are:
green screen walls
strategically placed power outlets
Lots and lots of space (8' x 15') room for shooting / production

What would be in your perfect studio?

Less windows.

Re: New Studio Wish List

I want a huge ass corner desk, with 3 monitors, and one big preview monitor/tv above. Then I want a seperate desk with my animation setup, and also I would like the rest of the room to be entirely green, with some studio lighting so that I can do live action green screen shoots.

Re: New Studio Wish List

Actual animation software.

I'm in the process of getting a Canon T2i and recently just purchased Dragon. Sky is the limit so free your mind, I want to do this right the first time.

Just got my hands on a 21.5 iMac and I'll use my other Apple Cinema Display as a second monitor.

I am considering making a section for an audio studio (sound proofed / mixer, etc).

The biggest thing I'm looking at is stage layout and in the process of designing / creating a camera rig / dolly.

I LOVE THIS^ I do plan on making my wall a green screen, but studio lighting would be awesome. Maybe just a studio lighting on the green screen  and then some external lights for studio lighting.

Re: New Studio Wish List

1.Getting an actual studio instead of a tiny table to animate on.
2.LEGO.

4.Lamp.
5.FASTER COMPUTER.

Re: New Studio Wish List

Only thing I want besides what I have would be soundproof walls; I'm on the second story and although I can't really hear anything from my studio, my mom can hear me when I'm in there late at night mini/tongue

kcirb-- its brick backwards.

Re: New Studio Wish List

Love the ideas here. I'd add sound-dampening wall pads, to improve audio quality.

Re: New Studio Wish List

Two desks - a small one for computer and a massive one for animation.
DSLR camera
Dragon Stop Motion
MacBook Pro
Decent green screens
Proper microphone

Re: New Studio Wish List

An actual wall behind my desk (I prop backdrops awkwardly with anything big and heavy I can)
A DSLR Camera combined with Dragon Stop Motion
A condenser Microphone setup
An iMac Pro - with Final Cut Pro (because I actually know how to use that software...)
Moar LEGO

I'm completely against the idea of a green/blue screen. I believe that as soon as Brickfilms start to act like Hollywood, it just highlights the flaws of the medium, meaning that I dont intend to make anything so ambitious that the physical set wont do. (Although, if I had the ability and technology, I would love to make a Brickfilm that featured CGI spaceships)

Re: New Studio Wish List

I like mine at the moments except for the windows.  But it would be nice to have a better video editor, a new camera and Dragon.

See pics later.

My bro's helping me make a new animation studio. (or supposed to be at least) mini/tongue

Main thing I want for it is a really nice big table. I've been animating of the floor of my room, and it's not quite optimal.

Another thing I'd like, though it's probably not going to happen for me for many reasons, would be walls painted to be backdrops. That way you'd have some really great possibilities for shots with such a huge backdrop. Maybe have some other walls with different things, like a blue day background and a black one with white dots for night.

And yet another thing I'd really love would be a huge flat screen TV. Why? Use that as a backdrop. That could look very cool. And you could create any background you wished. And it would be much more simple than green screen.

Ah! I remember when I used to animate on the floor. My knees and back still haven't recovered...

Actually, I was animating a school project and we tried doing that with one of those computers with the big fancy screen, and it's rather hard not to get any reflections on it. I wouldn't suggest using that effect very often.

Re: New Studio Wish List

1. A mess-free table
2. Something to support backdrops on (partially dismantled Green Grocer isn't working too good)
3. A second, smaller table to build sets on
4. All my Lego parts organized
5. A curtain for the open doorway to the stairs
6. Black fabric over blinds (blinds are too thin and light-colored, so they let in light during the day)
7. Getting rid of the stair-stepper no one uses that takes up space

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.
