Re: School guys...

I'm very open about the subject. I've also told all my friends as well as shown them good examples of brickfilms (not my work, of course!). I find it interesting that almost every girl I told really got into it. Their eyes got wider as I explained the process. Every guy I told was like "Yeah, cool. Whatever."

When I tell them about THAC, they all think I'm a loon.

Really? what's it about? anyway, good luck. Hehe, off topic. mini/tongue

To date, no one in my school really knows that I brickfilm. Just one, though he thinks that brickfilming is just picking up a minifig and move him in front of a video camera. (I'd like to see him do that) But I don't really tell my friends about my hobby mainly because people will start to think I'm weird, even though I'm well respected here. I might one day tell some if I make a film that's good enough to impress them which relatively easy to pull off, cheesy comedy anyone? Nonetheless I don't really care about whether my friends know what I do and all, as long as I have an interest in brickfilming, I don't give a s**t.

So basically, you're all ashamed of us like awkward parents.  It's cool.  Don't forget to brush your teeth.  And I found these magazines under your mattress.  I'm not judging.  I bought some hot pockets.  They're in the fridge.

Never be ashamed of who you are.  People have been picked on for more serious controversial issues like sexuality.  Brickfilming, that's a hobby, that's child's play (pun not intended).  And last I checked, the geeks have inherited the Earth and they rule it.

My old LEGO STAR WARS videos, I showed it to anyone that talks to me in school and they thought it was cool (in retrospect, it was also the crappiest thing I ever made).

So what if they ridicule you.  It's one more person to not give a $h!t about when you're out of that hell hole called high school.

Re: School guys...

Well the few friends I have at school are pretty chill about it, but that's like two people so ah well. Most of my friends are through my theater group, and of course they all support a little weirdness here and there mini/tongue Girls seem to like it a lot, but whether they're humoring me or are actually interested is something I wonder about periodically.... But it's certainly not something I hide, I'll post videos on Facebook to get views and everything, and people generally either ignore it or watch it because they're interested in it.

Re: School guys...

I go to a nerd school so it's generally expected that people have some weird talents. My school friends are all really nerdy, like, quiz bowl and doing algebra 2 in eighth grade and all so they accept my (highly publicized) endeavors, if not still thinking that I'm a little strange.
Another conclusion I've drawn is that along with playing the accordion, riding a unicycle, and birdwatching; brickfilming is the sort of thing that can make girls either really like you or be creeped out by you. but girls have cooties anyway. mini/blankexpression

Re: School guys...

My teachers praise my work except for the one grumpy guy everybody hates. My friends don't care as my nature is kinda like Tobuscus's (It's not like everybody at school knows me because of this....) so usually stuff like brickfilms is expected from me. It also gave me a great reputation as 'the smart kid' and 'the guy who knows a lot about movies' ( Some teachers even ask me to edit stuff for their exam thingy mini/bigsmile ) I'm totaly not ashamed and brickfilming actually gave me a good reputation!

Re: School guys...

The friends that have seen my movies tell me that they are great!
Can't tell if they really like them or are being nice 'cos they always talk about the ones I find the worst in a good way.
Although these are the sorts of people who spend all their time on video games and not watching brickfilms.
Heh, I have managed to get one of my friends into animation and I have a constant stream of good videos being sent to another who also gives me ideas.
The ideas he gives me never work.

People at school don't know me for my animation, they know me because I speak many words that mean nothing and do well in maths.

Re: School guys...

Pretty much all of my friends know that I brickfilm, and a few of them do it themselves.

I'm also in college now, and there are a few classmates who I've mentioned it to, and they seemed to think it was pretty neat.

You must still have a long way to go in puberty, then...

Whenever I bring up brickfilming in school, everyone loves it, and most of the time want me to show my work in class. When I bring it up with my other friends, they still love it, and one time my brother and I helped one of our friends make a short brickfilm (I mean 10sec. short). So overall, no one I know really discourages it, though I'm pretty sure it's to come in my lifetime somwhere.

Re: School guys...

It helps if you're really weird to begin with.

Re: School guys...

My friends are pretty cool about it. They think it looks badass and one of them actually started making brickfilms on his own after I showed him how to do it. Although one of my girl friends once said "ew, LEGO." Although I think if I showed it to a couple more of them they wouldn't be like "Oh my gosh, you still play with LEGOs, you're gay." But I was always scared to show it to girls, that's why I never wanted any of my girl friends to come over to my house to see my "studio."

Most kids at school see two sides of me, the quiet side, and the talkative, Hyper adrenaline fueled weird side. most kids who see my weird side are ok with the films, and actually really enjoy them. Most who see the quiet side are like mini/confused

Agreed.

I don't publicize myself, but alot of my friends know I brickfilm, and I even made one for class, and people liked it.  Really though, I am strange, and I don't care if people thing I'm a weirdo for brickfilming, or if they think I'm a weirdo at all, actually.

Re: School guys...

Basically what BWJC said. I don't really care if the kids dig what I do or not, so the few friends that I did have in high school all thought it was cool, because we were kinda in a small group of weird-o's.

If someone is going to help with a brickfilm, I make it a requirement that they are weird.

Re: School guys...

Guys, brickfilmers have a public image, and it needs to remain a cool one. All of you are letting down the past generation of brickfilmers, ruining all the work that is put into their "laid-back" look.

Re: School guys...

Nobody really cares. This one annoying kid attempts to express his feelings towards brickfilming (in other words, he sort of likes what I do, but gets too carried away with it)...but he's a n00b. mini/rolleyes
