I don't really make the fact too public, there are some people who say "Wow, that's really cool!", but (this is the reason I don't spread it too much) some other people think "Wow, that kid's such a retard! He makes...LEGO movies. That guy is gay." or something along those lines.

...and that too.

Re: School guys...

My friends don't really have an opinion about, it's never a subject either but they know I do it, and they find them funny, but I'm pretty sure they don't realise how much work it takes to complete one. Luckily my friends have the same sense of humor

They think I'm weird, for still "playing" (As they call it), with LEGO.

Re: School guys...

People think I'm a 4 year old that "plays" with it.
It's quite embarrassing when someone brings it up.
Especially in front of girls etc...

Re: School guys...

Well it depends on the people, but I gotta say that yeah some people just doesn't seem to understand the whole thing. Animating something is not playing with it, like the claymation animation, if you animate clay that doesn't mean that you play with it, for example I find it really boring to play with LEGO or any other toys, I haven't done that for years, although I am not a kid anymore so yeah that's natural. But I really enjoy writing stories and animating Lego's (and not only) in order to tell/show the story for other people, that's it.

P.S. To answer the Topic I've gotta say that not many people around me know what I do, most probably because I don't see a reason to tell them what I do, if they want to watch some LEGO animation video they will find it on youtube mini/bigsmile

Re: School guys...

'till now friends always said "OMG, you're a genious" or "that must have taken a lot of time", but in italian. Also, some said that they'd like to watch how to do it...but not a lot of peoples knows about it...

Re: School guys...

People are pretty supportive of my stuff. Of course you get the occasional !@#$% who makes rude remarks about it, but that's only a select few of the idiot football player crowd.  My girlfriend likes them, so I'm pretty much set.

I envy you so much.

Unfortunately, brickfilming isn't very popular in my country. Some of my classmates are
the ones who tend to diss or insult people with "strange"(in their opinion) hobbies. My classmates don't know what I do,
because I don't have enough courage to tell them about my hobby.
They could think I'm immature, weird or stupid, for still having fun with LEGO.

Only my best friends and family are supportive for my work.

Re: School guys...

I tell the occasional person. I told one guy about "Do You Like Waffles (in LEGO)" shortly after I released it, and the next day, he started praising me about it. It was kinda weird, though...

Re: School guys...

My friends don't think it's weird at all, in fact, I told one of my friends who is in 9th grade about Brickfilming and he actually thought it was cool.

I'm working on getting my studio back up and running, so stay posted...

Re: School guys...

You've just got to set them straight. You should mention the facts that without people like us developing movie making skills, you wouldn't have any animators working on new Pixar or Dreamworks films.

Not that it's a problem for me. I'm 15, and all the talk is about girls and Call of Duty. Yet nobody has ever acted immaturely about it.

Re: School guys...

I'm completely open about it, last year, I showed a bunch pf people my brickfilms. Of course, back then, my brickfilms were still pretty n00bish though they still thought they were really cool. Back then, I wasn't even using YouTube, I used Google Picasa to upload my brickfilms.

This year, in January, we have some type of learning week and I'm going to, basically, teach the basics of brickfilming and just stop motion in total.

So as you can see, like I said at the beginning, I'm completely open about my hobby. In fact, there's another person in my grade who brickfilms, too.

Oh, thats cool on how you are going to teach people!

Re: School guys...

A couple of people have found out, but I don't go around telling them. I haven't actually released anything for ages, so there's never much of a point to talk about it anyway. My friends think it's cool, and occasionally encourage me or something, but generally I try to keep it to myself. If it spread through school I'd probably be given a lot of !@#$ about it.

Re: School guys...

I haven't told to many. Only my friends in boy scouts (Their usually supportive of what kids in the troop do on the side). 2 of them got really interested and now they want me to make a LEGO mine craft series with them (Me, of coarse doing all the animating, but I am fine with that).

Then on kid in my News Crew found them on Youtube after I mentioned them. He really liked them so I was lucky that time. I'm going to show one of my films in front of a whole class on Wednesday, so we will see how that goes. mini/bigsmile  mini/sweat

My Film Studies teacher says I should "Sell myself" more, but I still dont tell a soul. Although, some sneaky buggers have found out themselves and confronted me about it - to my everlasting embarrassment....

Re: School guys...

2 years have passed since I my last post here. The whole class knows what I do. I showed one of the teachers my latest "creations" and just as the first film started, the bell rang and everybody was back in the classroom. Except me, I went outside for embarrassment. So they all know I make animation videos. Hopefully, they all seemed to enjoy them.
So, yeah, I don't really talk much about it, but they appreciate my work, even if some might not appreciate me.
Found out also that it could start a good conversation with girls...
