I'm new to masking.

Re: Jump Test

Nice. Just careful on set movements and light flicker. I don't want to boast, but I made a tutorial on masking and you can check it out if you want to.

Re: Jump Test

Masking isn't very good and light flicking. You should fix the options auto to manual. You must have practice more. And focus, you can fix it too with settings auto to manual. 'Cause it really sucks, if focus going to wrong place again and again.

He's looking for some constructive criticism, not to be bashed about his mistakes! I know you did give him some but I mean.... come on... "Masking isn't very good" and "cause it sucks." ? mini/confused

Re: Jump Test

I agree with JTP, that was pretty harsh Lord Lajaka.
'Cause it really sucks isn't going to help him improve.
Besides, I thought it wasn't that bad.

Re: Jump Test

Everyone just likes to jump at supposed remarks around here. Lord Lajaka was simply saying "Because it would really suck if the focus kept moving on you." He wasn't critiquing the mask but masking in general. Calm down guys.

EDIT: Now to actually post something that pertains to this thread. Stephen- As quick as the motion was and on many re-watches there is some "residue" left in the empty space below the man. It remains at the same level throughout the jump. I'm not sure what you used to prop him up, but make sure it is a contrasting color so it is easy to erase. This might just be from compression/artifacts on the screen and I apologize if this doesn't show up in higher quality renders. Nice first job!

Re: Jump Test

It wasn't bad for a first try. I also see you are improving in your animation, Stephen. Although, just remember - you need to have patience with animation, because if you want to make it smooth, you seriously need to take the pictures with a small movement in each one. And make sure to practice! Good luck in your upcoming films!

Re: Jump Test

Pretty good but you should be a little more careful not to move your camera. Good job! mini/smile

I'm working on getting my studio back up and running, so stay posted...
