Re: Post your logo here!
Alright, here's a suggestion: change the color to a readable color as the flare passes.

yea... maybe... I took the screen shot a bit early, the smoke does make it readable but, yea, I'll give it a shot.
also, here's the clip:

I think the text color should be more readable, and it should be faster. It seemed too slow.
ok.... maybe... still pretty good though, (for a CG newbie that is)
I'm not saying it wasn't "good". I was just giving it suggestions to make it better.
well, thanks... still WAY better then the old "fade in.... fade out"...
Like mine? ![]()
I don't know, how do u do your fade in fade out's
Y'know, there's actually nothing wrong with fading in and out. It's simple, and easy to read. Adding effects does not make a logo better, unless it positively contributes to the presentation of said logo. In this case, I don't think the effects make the logo any better. Try making a memorable logo first, then worry about adding effects, if at all.
This is true. Having a logo fade in and out against a black background always seems the most cinematic to me.
This thread just broke my graphic designer heart again. The pain. Oh, the pain.
I don't know how people can't distinguish, but I'll try to clarify. A logo is not your name done with fancy effects in Gimp. Nor is it your name in a "cool" font with a pixelated minifigure beside it. A logo is a graphic that can be used to distinguish a particular brand or item. A good logo should have the flexibility to be shrunk, monochromatic, or even turned and still recognizable. I have made a sample for ANP and I don't know how else to make it clear that people, these are not logos, they're banners.
That would pass as a logo by my standards, but try to be a bit more creative.

I too, feel like having an aneurysm looking at this thread. It tears my heart to see so many people making unoriginal logos.
Alfa Animations, don't mean to burst your bubble, but that doesn't look like a very good logo at all to me. Try doing something more creative next time (You can start by changing the text color, even if something bright is going behind it, black on black is always difficult to see).

It hurts me that people think these are logos.
It hurts me that people think.
I made a logo two or three months ago, I'll post it when I get home. It might not really be logo to put at the beginning of a movie, though.
Could someone PLEASE make me a logo?
I've tried that in GIMP,but i failed.
here's my logo:
