ok, so that could be a bricks on the side or those tile plates. just what ever you have the most of? I'll be buying the black parts I plan to use though, so what would you guys say? the bricks or the tiles? the tiles would probably be easier to integrate...

Tiles aren't SNOT. That's TOTOS. That stands for "Tiles On Top Of Studs" (I made that one up). With TOTOS, the studs are still on top, they're just covered. By "studs on top", they mean the direction the studs are facing.

I would go with TOTOS. Use dark grey instead of black. Real roads are grey, not black.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: Endless Knight

ok, yellow or white lines?

It could go either way, but white would be better.

Re: Endless Knight

yea, I'm with you there. also, has anyone done well in CG-ing a background(the whole enviroment) and adding a real Lego car? is this what retro-scoping is? and also, what is the best number of lamps an all?

i'll be going with both SNOT and TOTOS, of example, when its just a scene of part of the car and road rushing past it'd be SNOT but when its a more elaborate set, it'd be TOTOS

Do you mean you film the Batmobile seperately on a greenscreen then add the CG buildings? I don't think that will work so well... it won't look very realistic. You should do the whole scene in CG or even better, film it in real life. But I'm guessing your bricks are limited (like me) so yeah that might not work. Or maybe using miniatures might work?

That's what I plan to do for my City of Darkness film when the building and action gets too big. mini/wink

Re: Endless Knight

ok, I think it's called "Background mode" on Animator HD's website anyway, it would allow me to put the camera to look like its in the right place...

Re: Endless Knight

ok, sorry for the double post but I have a question for everyone and didn't know where to put it, ok, here goes...
are my titles(the writing before a movie begins) to long? how could I improve them?

Re: Endless Knight

Do you mean the time they're on the screen? or the length or size?

Re: Endless Knight

the time they are on screen... (as a group)
guess that they make sense for  dvd movie but are far to long for a internet video

Re: Endless Knight

I constantly put far too much thought into that kinda stuff. xD
I really do.
I'm always afraid it's too long or short.

I'd suggest making some test titles, and just ask people how they feel about it.

I made the "ARRR" at the beginning of "Pirates Rule!" slightly longer because my godfather thought it was too short.

Re: Endless Knight

It really depends on what the title is like. For instance, the titles in Batman Begins was when lots of bats formed into the Batman emblem. It should be long to keep the audience guessing what the bats are forming into. In my film, Batman will be riding the Batpod through the highway as the camera pans up slowly to the sky and reveal the emblem. If you'd like me to give you ideas PM me.

Re: Endless Knight

ok, I'll up load some tests, also, just got some cloth from here:
http://www.mmcbcapes.servaus.net/index.php?oid=2039233
some for Bane, Superman, batman, James Gordon, Joker, Riddler and Hush...
I'm also almost finished the first scene...

also, some questions for FX...
I'm using this batman (for now)
http://www.bricklink.com/ML/bat001.jpg?0
his eyes are going to glow with the aid of Hitfilm, and when he changes the mode of vision(eg: ultra violet) his eyes change colour.  should I make the bat emblem do the same? also, hes batman, master of stealth, so when he walks, should it make a sound? and if so, I take it it should be quiet...

ok, so here is the test/start clip I did... what do you guys (and gals) think...
http://youtu.be/xvWiTC1MB2o

alright, so, as of now, the total of this brick film is (all up) now $1205 (its been a long time in making...) it also has a $170 a week budget

Re: Endless Knight

*double post* [sorry]
got hitfilm....
here's a test with it:

Also, more screen shots coming soon

Re: Endless Knight

Dude, your getting way ahead of yourself. All the posters and DVD covers are supposed to be made after at least one episode is done. Also, you really need to get better at animation with the stuff you have first before you start buying expensive software and stuff.

I'm just saying. xD

Re: Endless Knight

I have finished the first scene, the audio for the next scene is going to get recorded today, and the posters and DVD covers where done before I could start filming, I had to wait because I needed a new camera, my animation is already ok, look at "Son of Perez" V down there V

Re: Endless Knight

Looks like a cool project!

One thing, though:
I don't know if the animation samples I just watched from you (like the trailer) are very recent, but I would recommend doing A LOT of tests before tackling this project.  I did notice that you got better in Son of Perez. I just believe the movie won't be as spectacular as you might think, or good enough to do the big budget any justice IF you don't really sit down on your butt and practice animation. A LOT! Like, do a certain movement (like a fist punch) until you think it looks perfect and can't be any better. You certainly will be able to improve immensely. I see you are very serious and dedicated to this project and this is just a piece of advice hoping to prevent you from being disappointed in the end.

Also, I would seriously consider doing 15 fps only. It's a lot easier, and, as you're not the most experienced animator (YET!) it's probably the better choice. I mean, fancypants' animation is very very good and he does use "only" 15 fps. I, too, don't think I could handle 24 properly.

I don't think "Ok animation" is enough for this kind of project! Enough for you to be satisfied, I mean.

Another thing:
Definitely buy the original (or the new one with the to-be-released Superheroes line) Joker! I does look a lot better than a "home-made" one. With a budget of over a thousand bucks, it'd be a mistake not to put a lot of effort and, well, part of the money, into minifigs and sets.

This post may sound a bit negative but it's not like that, actually. The positive stuff probably already has been communicated over the course of those five pages. So I thought I'd emphasize on the points that I think can in fact help you and make it understandable where I'm coming from.

Best of luck with the project!

This is a pretty good idea.
I myself did the same thing. I thought up I am the Night at the beginning of this year, and decided to move up to 15. Instead of going right on to that project, I filmed a few tests, and filmed a nearly five minute animation called How to Not Rob a Bank so I could really get a hang for it. I also did some other stuff like 'Vango' and now a shorter Batman film.

Also, I think 15 FPS is great, 24 isn't entirely necessary. It's cool, yes, but I personally enjoy really nice 15 FPS like Stranger than Fishin' compared to stuff like 24 FPS Egyptian Holiday.

With 15, it's simpler, not as complex, and so it allows you to focus on other cool stuff besides a ridiculous frame-rate.

Re: Endless Knight

I think that maybe you should slow down a bit, as AniMax mentioned. There's an awful lot of money being spent here, and you seem to be publicising the project a lot considering only the 1st scene is done. I mean, $1200 is a huge amount of money - I don't even know where you managed to get so much. At the end of the day it is up to you, but I'd recommend using what you have and try with that. Practice, get better, then finish the project THEN promote it.

Sorry if I sound in any way offensive, just trying to save you from overhyping it or potentially wasting a little too much money on it.
