Re: Brickfilms.com Has Returned?
Yea it would be nice if they just turned BF into a huge resource website. Like where all of the best tutorials links and whatever out there would help the brickfilmer
Mod edit: Your signature started it.

Oi that's my programming you're talking about!
When you own a house, it needs to be taken care of.
Parts need to be replaced every so often, general appearances upkept, trash taken out, etc. etc.
If you don't maintain your home, people aren't going to want to come over or even look at your house.
Pretty soon, you're going to be annoyed by your own house.
And when you finally get around to doing what should have been done all along, it's too late.
The foundation is compromised, termites have taken hold, the frame has dry rot, whatever the endgame might be.
You still like the house, sure. It was your home, your sanctuary.
But truth be told, it's just not habitable anymore.

You are right about that.
I don't know, I think the BIM is easier to understand ![]()

Yea, pretty much.

According to Aled TAAB has recently approved the idea. That's what he said in the chat. Might need to confirm that.
Confirmed!
We're planning a pretty big overhaul of the website making the Resources pretty much obsolute. This is why the Resources are pretty much completely inactive at the moment. Just wanted to drop that in here...
...Mostly the organization. What's currently planned is having a sort of blog set up as the front of the site (not unlike a website like The Brothers Brick). As for the Film Directory, it will be will be unified and simplified and made much better. The Resources will go completely, being replaced again with threads in the forums and blog posts highlighting great tutorials, resources, informative articles and whatnot. In the end, the website shall be much more simple and organized and way more attractive for both casual visitors and die hard posters (you know who you are).
Do you guys see what I see here?

If someone doesn't tell me, I don't see what you did there...
I'm saying that TaaB's approval of Sméagol's original plan and the major site overhauls that BertL mentioned at are in fact related.

It's just coincidence.
I REALLY don't see the point in moving over, at all. BF has been dead for years now and as Dew said (sort of) it isn't as pretty and such. If people are just going over there because of something very small that isn't on BiM, then why not just ask for it to be put on this site? I don't really understand what's driving people to go there...
Oh, and I also found out that the mod selection was pretty stupid, it was like a case of "Whoever gets here first can be a mod!", and someone else told me the move was because of less mature people on the site... *facepalm* Well, if everyone moves to BF again then THEY WILL TOO.

Hey Aled,
(pm feature not working for me and I cannot register over at brickfilms.com)
Nick Maniatis / hali / bricktastic films here:
In all this time I have continued to support brickfilms.com with yearly subscriptions for server space for my highly popular website, The Howling Fantods
Today, in fact right now, it appears to be gone... so I checked brickfilms and saw stuff about a server change.
If you are no longer offering hosting, fair enough, but I'd actually like the most recent cpanel daily backup so I can move somewhere else. I have paid for it...
I have some recent backups, but I've also been literally moving house so I don't have a recent one and I've done a lot of work to it in the last few weeks.
I just tried to login to my cpanel via my account
but that doesn't even work.
Does my site still exist? I have hundreds of members, and thousands and thousands of visitors weekly.
Please contact me ASAP on
[see pm] @gmail.com
Cheers,
Nick

I'll see what I can do hali, I honestly thought the patron hosting had been abolished long ago, I'll get onto TAAB about it, I'm sorry for the inconvinience D:
Well it was running until earlier today.
I've tried unsuccessfully to move my account to two other hosts, and was looking into another. As it is, my money is still being taken by TAAB, so I'd assume the hosting would continue.
If it was abolished I was never informed, and if it has been, then that's cool too, but I've paid to have it hosted until Nov this year, so I'd like it at least to be back for a few weeks so I can transfer to a new host... there's 12 years of work there (most of it backed up, but not the recent stuff)
Thanks for your help.

Nope. A handful of brickfilmers like hali, rstudios, nosniborus, hoogiman, zirk, and protowrxs still had working viable accounts.
They need to be contacted ASAP about this.

I'm trying to get thier accounts backed up asap
Nope wasn't me.
It's kind of depressing how I wasn't keeping offsite backups as regularly because the cpanel hosting was going so well (with access to backups etc).
Never expected the whole sub-domain just to disappear. Without being contacted.
How hard is it to contact us and say, "Sorry, we're not offering hosting anymore"?
I'm trying to get thier accounts backed up asap
I'm still a paid up patron too, although I was only using the space for storage. It's not vital that I get it back but it would be nice to get a chance to just have a look at what's there and see if anything needs salvaging.
Well as of now I've resigned from Brickfilms.com, so it's none of my business, as far as I know TAAB has contacted the guy who did the backups, sorry again for the inconvenience.
