Topic: Logitech webcam pro 9000 questions

I was advised that the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 as a webcam for brick filming. So far I have been satisfied with it but there are two things that annoy me about it.

Firstly, the picture can be very grainy at times.
Secondly, I tend to get a lot of light flicker from it.

I'm just wondering if anyone can help me to get a better result out of my webcam. If you have any suggestions that would help.

It is probably worth noting that I have taken of the right light and adjusted the exposer and gain settings and I still get light flicker.

All settings must be on manual.

There must be really really bright light shining on the set for your webcam to give a good picture.

Re: Logitech webcam pro 9000 questions

Grainy? Are you using capture software, or the webcam software?

Try turning the anit-flicker off. If every setting is on manual and you get light flicker, it must be a physical source of light. Are you using lamps? If so, what kind of bulbs?

I'm using a capture software called "Stop motion animator". Just a free thing with onion skin e.t.c.

To answer your other question I just use the light that is suspended from my ceiling, should I use a desk lamp of some kind?

What do you have the resolution set at?

Use a desk lamp with diffusion paper on it (baking paper works good). If you're somewhere between the celing lamp and your camera, your movements will cause light flicker.

Re: Logitech webcam pro 9000 questions

I got the Logitech 9000 for my son with a mac and istopmotion and we can't get anything except a distorted image.  Very strange.  Does anyone have any experience in using one of these with a mac and istopmotion?

Re: Logitech webcam pro 9000 questions

They aren't made for a mac and I'm surprised it even works on that OS. And Flash Code. Always make sure that your gain bar is lower than your exposure bar.

It has no manual controls though, so it's practically useless for brickfilming. You'll need either Bootcamp or VMWare, and a copy of Windows, in order for the QC9000 to work on a Mac. FuryBros, I'm not sure how it's "working fine" for you guys.

@Flash Code: A desk lamp will work better because it's closer to your set, and is much brighter on a more focused area. Taping paper (printer paper works best) a decent distance (5 in./13 cm.) will diffuse the light, giving to a more natural look. Also, does the frame capture program you're using have a window/tab where you can adjust the camera's settings? If not, then you should open the webcam's software program, and adjust the controls from there. Make sure ALL your settings are on manual.
