Re: Hollywood is Running Out of Ideas

While I was speaking generally, whether or not trends like this continue is based largely on consumer desire. Maybe you won't change the industry's choices (though it's theoretically possible), but you might be able to influence your local theater into showing more 2D offerings.

Re: Hollywood is Running Out of Ideas

I don't see that working. A couple of people out of the blue saying they don't agree with 3D won't make them submit to your will. Because the majority of movie-goers don't appreciate the certain advantages of 2D, or they don't acknowledge the disadvantages of 3D, in their eyes they see: IT POPS FROM TEH SCREEN AND I CAN GRAB IT.

They don't care about the properties of both sides, they just care more about 3D because of the "reality" of the technology.

Maybe so, but there's nothing worse then an armchair activist.

They do have to listen to you. You are their customers, remember. You don't sway to their will, they sway to yours.

Yes, but as I said, who are they gonna listen to? The vast majority of movie-goers who prefer 3D or a slightly vocal minority?

I wouldn't say the 'reality' of the technology, but moreso the emotional reaction to it.
Take Jaws for example. Back then, people were frightened out of their skin by this film.
Fast forward a few years to the release of Jaws 3D.
People really jumped from their seats at the opening scene of the shark coming right at you.*

Re: Hollywood is Running Out of Ideas

You know, I do quite like some remakes/reboots, and there are some I think would be nice to see. (if done properly)
I think a new, really nice Power Rangers movie could be really cool and serious. Maybe they could try to give it a bit more realism and stuff.
Of course, it COULD be horrible, but I'd love to see it done nicely.

Wouldn't that defeat the fun of the original series?

Re: Hollywood is Running Out of Ideas

Could director Cameron Crowe reunite with star John Cusack to make a sequel to perhaps his most beloved work?

It's official...Nothing is sacred anymore.

Dewfilms, off to say goodbye to the last bits of untouched 80s creative glory before they are put through the corporate greed machine.

Honestly, people. Use common sense once in a while.

here is some evidence that it's true..

it could have been edited, but who knows?

Re: Hollywood is Running Out of Ideas

EDIT: Okay, appearantly my last sarcastic reply obviously was not clear.

At all, as you can tell by the post below me.

So instead I'll put it plain and simple: There is no dead body in the 'Wizzard of Oz'. It's just fun to think there is. mini/tongue

Sorry for any confusion.

Re: Hollywood is Running Out of Ideas

You actually believe that a person killed themselves on the Wizard of Oz set, got recorded, and MGM kept them there without doing a retake or editing out the dead body for 62 years? Did you even read Noodle's post or click the link that you triple-quoted?

Not only would that never happen, but that would have gone against the Hays Code that was in place at the time (and technically still is).

Honestly, people. Use common sense once in a while. Nobody died on the Wizard of Oz set, and even if someone did, their corpse certainly wasn't in the movie. That video is not] evidence.

Well obviously there had to be some sort of explanation, I mean I'm not some conspiracy theorist.

I just find looking at these things and pretending I am to be interesting. mini/tongue But appearently sarcasm has not been working out for me this week... So I'll go make that more clear.

Re: Hollywood is Running Out of Ideas

Common sense vs. Wanting there to be a dead munchkin in Wizard of Oz.

Re: Hollywood is Running Out of Ideas

Just saw the television ad for the Straw Dogs remake. I am just sickened. How can us brickfilmers come up with loads of great ideas, but Hollywood directors, writers, and producers come up with none? Hollywood has to remake every single classic movie, and it is just stupid. When I first saw Straw Dogs (1971), I was blown away. The film was fantastic, and I loved it, but now they're remaking it, probably with some stupid plot, stupid actors, and stupid everything else. I am really sick to my stomach with this Hollywood crap and one day I want to become a director and shows these idiots how to make an original film.

They're remaking Annie.
Is Will Smith trying to re-live the 80s through his kids or something?
