Animation Test 5

Youtube

The next installment in my series of animation tests. This time I test shooting at 15 fps, various flying objects, an 'Eraserhead' tribute, and several ounces of red clay!

Re: Animation Test 5

Not bad for a start.  There are ways you can improve, however.  First of all, make sure all your webcam's settings are on manual.  It looked like you were using artificial light, but there was still a lot of light flicker.  Second, work on improving your animation.  xxxfancypantsxxx has a tutorial on making realistic animation.  Still, it was okay.

Re: Animation Test 5

I love your animation style. There were some tests that were really good IMO. You sohuld work more on the walk and running cycles, though. For the flying objects, you might use some masking for them instead of putting transparent bricks (if you don't know what is masking, you can find some tutorials on youtube that explain what it is and how to do it).

I know how to do masking, but the software I use doesn't have any special effects features.

Re: Animation Test 5

I believe you can with Gimp, which I believe is free isn't it?

Anyway, your animation is doing well. mini/smile I'm not much of a fan for blood though... mini/tongue

Are you using natural lights?

I'll look up Gimp, I've heard good things about it before and I'll give it a try if it's free. Sorry about all the blood, but I bought a bunch of modeling clay recently, and I wanted to put it to good use. And I'm using two desk lamp and an overhead ceiling fan lamp for lighting.

Re: Animation Test 5

If Gimps turns out to be difficult to use for masking, I suggest using Bafran: it's free, and very simple to use, although the results might not be of the same quality of Gimp or Photoshop.

Re: Animation Test 5

As you progress in the art of Animation, start watching out for the other technical aspects like light flicker, set and camera bumps, etc...

As someone above already said, put some focus on the walking and running. Look up walk cycles in the web and learn them by heart (in the learning process at one point it helps to just reproduce them without any animating or taking pictures, just moving the minifig on a plate like playing with it)

Search for "Quigibo's walk tutorial".

You've improved. mini/smile
