Topic: New Computer or not?
I realise that this is probably posted somewhere else, but I have a query. My computer, upstairs by my studio, has lost internet connection after my dad switched providers to provider that provides 4mb internet or something. (lol i said provide alot) The computer is relativity old and has only 36GB of RAM. It runs on Windows XP and there's nothing REALLY wrong with it. I am just wondering should I get a new computer? My dad knows nothing (though he likes to think he does) about computers. He tries fixing every problem by restarting and when I told him it was the connection, not the computer he insisted in wanting to get a new USB Wireless Connector. If I got another stick of RAM installed into the computer, would it make it
1. Have more memory
2. Run faster.
If I got a new computer with Windows 7, the internet might run faster? Or connect because the internet is all new and fast and the computer ca't grasp it? I don't know. HELP!

And by a stick of RAM do you mean external storage like a flash drive or external hard drive? Anyway, although more RAM will make your computer faster, more hard disc space will not. (except maybe read/write speeds) and yes, a new computer with Win7 would most likely run the internet faster. and I'm guessing that somehow your old computer can still connect to the internet, you just dont know how. Have you installed all windows updates? what Service pack are you running? I'd suggest getting a new computer based on your description (because with 36 gigs HDD, the other specs cant be very good), but if its solely because you old one cant connect to the internet, then I wouldnt recommend it.
