Actually, even that is a fairly small hard drive nowadays. 250 gb is a general minimum for most stock computers. Many have upwards of 500 to 1000, and even more. Really, 36 is quite small, especially when brickfilming. And i mean quite small.
Ok, ok, I understand that a new computer is unnecessary, and an external hard-drive is most defiantly needed, but my dad won't buy one! I asked him twice and he got annoyed, I think because his new phone isn't working the way he wants it to, (like I said, not a tech wiz, so If it isn't perfect, he's annoyed... bad temper, I know) and my mom says "When your sister gets her laptop, you'll have all the memory you need." and I said" No, because generally, better computers have about 100GB and that one hasn't even got 1/2!" My mom said buying things like that is pointless because the computer is so lod that it will probably give out in a year or 2, and I said that EXTERNAL hard-drives can be used with different computers to back-up important things like C.Vs and Photos! I hope I can get one for Xmas or something....
Even internal hard drives can be used, although they must be reformated and given a new install of an OS. Just because a computer is loud, doesn't nesscessarily mean it will break down.

Microsoft says so. You can probably install IE9 on XP, but they don't officially support it. Chromium is just as fast and actually allows for add-ons.
Running Windows 7 is always going to be slower than XP. Even if you turn off Areo or whatever. Unless she is going to get more memory there is no point in "Upgrading" to Windows 7.

If I was in the same situation I would get a new internal hard drive. Partition it into Windows, Programmes and Home. Install the OS on Windows and my programme files on Programmes. Then I would put my Home files on Home. Get an external HDD to back up all the files on a regular basis and leave the original internal hard drive for the sister to put her files on. I don't know how well it would run on XP but a similar concept works well for GNU/Linux.

Alternatively you could just get an external and bung all your files on there.

If you do add some more RAM and end up with 4GB or more then you will need a 64bit OS. Probably best to get 7 as I've only heard bad things about 64bit XP.

The problem with most threads in this forum is that people recommend what they use and not what's really the best solution.

WRONG! Windows 7 will increase your speed! also depends on which one she is buying professional, home or ultimate.

offtopic: The reputation speaks for itself.
Read your own link.

Win 7 requires more RAM than XP. But Ram is cheap.

Internet explorer is slower the chrome. Although ie ten can render like it.
If you cant be bothered reading all this, Overall , you don't need an extra stick of RAM
But it's the easiest and cheapest computer part to install.

A bigger hard drive is your best bet though.

delete all the videos you've posted on Youtube
No, don't do that.
if you want fast internet get internet explorer 9, so far considered fastest
IE9 only works on Vista and 7. Not to mention that it still can't render pages properly. Chromium is a better option.
Windows 7 will help a bit with the amount of extra capabilities in it.
Windows 7 is just bloat. If you have speed problems on XP then 7 is going to run like a snail.
fasten
I don't think you know what this word means.

SpeedyGonZohan gave the best advice really. If you're on a desktop and willing to install components yourself that is.

I seem to feel really slow on 4gb- computers, maybe it's just me.
But what in the world did you stuff your computer up with?
delete all the videos you've posted on Youtube, seeing you can always get it back,
if you have a recycling bin, EMPTY IT

Oh and also, defragment your hardrive, I couldn't post the link cause I'm on my phone,
Just search it up on google, if your computer is old and you've used it for a while, defragmenting it would help quite a bit. Once again delete the junk on your hardrive, my computer has 300 gigs but I actually only needed 10, Oh and another thing, if you want fast internet get internet explorer 9, so far considered fastest, Windows 7 will help a bit with the amount of extra capabilities in it.

If you want it at it's best performance go ahead and change your windows style to that old looking style, it'll fasten up your computer and since I play games I see a BIG difference. Don't waste money on a new computer, only if your computer takes like a hour to load one thing.

If you cant be bothered reading all this, Overall , you don't need an extra stick of RAM

I told him today that I only have about 1gb left and I NEED more memory and he said "1GB i loads! You won't fill it up that fast."
Then I said that I fill up 1GB in a 30sec animation, and that's WITHOUT HD rendering! I don't know if he's in on it. :/

Your CPU actually looks good, clocking at 2.6. Two GB's of ram should suit you fine as well.

Regarding storage, it's not hard to find a cheap 500GB HD nowadays, since storage is so cheap. What you SHOULD look into is getting a new internal drive, reinstalling XP to it, and use your current 36GB drive as your sister's storage/whatever. That would make it run a lot faster, because in my experience the more a HD is filled up, the slower it is.

And Aero, Asus made a dual physical processor Mobo. I can't remember it's name though.
