Re: Community Forum Changes

Well, even though I might not like it, I will stick by Smeagol and his decision.

However, I think that instead of getting rid of the section we should put it on hold for a few months. Like probation. If we don't shape up we lose it forever. So we should work on not spamming, helping each other and really focus on the brickfilming part of the site. If Smeagol isn't pleased we lose it.

But that's just an idea. It's up to Smeagol to make the decisions.

Also, I'm not calling anyone or group specifically abusive of the site. We've all had our bad moments. Some peoPle also seem to have done nothing wrong. This may sound like a tactic a teacher might use, but who knows it might work.

Not only is that not fair to those who know how to use the Community forum correctly, but the newest members would have access to the Community forum, and they are usually the worst spam offenders, mostly because they don't know any better, or because they won't listen to our...persuasions (I'm not talking about anyone in particular here.).

Re: Community Forum Changes

Yeah.  This is not so much about "changing people" as it is getting people who are here mostly for the community forum to leave and to avoid attracting new members who would just be here for the community forum.

Re: Community Forum Changes

If you don't want to 'attract' new, community-seeking members, why don't we close this thread?
If a new member were to see this thread, explaining that there once was a flourishing community forum, which is now gone, don't you think that would cause some amount of displeasure?

Re: Community Forum Changes

It just feels that the community is cut off from each other. It might have been rough around the edges but in the end the community section was great. The reason I came on this site was not just to learn how to brickfilm but to talk to people who share the same interests as me. It also seems that most of the community misses it.

Edit: Now I see what angle you're coming from Smeagol. Ever considered filtering the people? Probably too big of a job.

Re: Community Forum Changes

If you want a brickfilming site with a community forum: http://brickfilmschool.com/

But I feel a community forum is pointless and unneeded.

Or http://www.groups.google.com/group/BiM-community-group
Let's face it, it's not coming back to us 'minor' users. mini/blankexpression

Re: Community Forum Changes

Dude, it's been a week. New people continue to be added at our discretion. It's silly to assume that the "minor" users will never receive access.

Re: Community Forum Changes

All of you guys who are p.oed at Smeagol are being idiots. I think this is a fantastic idea.

Used to be 'Caidence'

Re: Community Forum Changes

It is a good choice, now that I've read Smeagol's article more clearly. The past few months it seems I've lost view of the purpose of the site. Now that this has happened I see that it's probably the best choice for the whole site. Now we won't have the aforementioned trolls. So now we can all get beck to what really matters, brickfilming.

Re: Community Forum Changes

For the first time in a good long while, I've animated. Because of the Community threads having >5 posts a day? Definitely influenced by that, yes.

I don't make Brickfilms. I trade virtual hats.

Re: Community Forum Changes

Haven't been around lately so didn't see this thread. Good call.

That's kinda what's happening right now.

Yeah I noticed that after I posted.

Re: Community Forum Changes

Allright, sooo what you are saying is that because I just don't have time to put in more work into my brickfilms and the forums I should not be allowed to go on the Community forum?
Okay I don't hate this desicion. But I do have to say that this could very well lead to the same way that the reviews have gotten which I have to say the reviewers has done a terrible job with. They are still reviewing the THAC films which came out around 7 MONTHS AGO.

So, I don't hate the situation but I do think this could go very slow

Re: Community Forum Changes

How is this like the directory issue in any way? I don't understand your point, some elaboration would be appreciated.

Re: Community Forum Changes

They aren't still reveiwing THAC 8 films. They're up to the beginning of January now.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.
