Re: Community Forum Changes
This site is not a democracy. They tried that over at Brickfilms.com in 2007, and from what I heard, it didn't work out too well.

So you're saying that it doesn't matter if one of your favorite topics of forums gets closed or completely removed? It wouldn't matter if you didn't get a heads up or get a chance to have a say in weather or not it should be removed? I'm not trying to be rude here, just trying to see if I understand what you mean.
I'm saying that this site is supposed to be about brickfilming, not what your favourite video game is.
I'm sure there are hundreds of other sites where you guys can talk about other random stuff like that. ![]()
These forums were made to help and connect brickfilmers so that they could make better brickfilms, not to talk about random "stuff" that has nothing to do with brickfilming. Also if you want to talk about random "stuff" just go to another forum or the live chat.
^^
The removal of the Community forum is indeed effective. I'm making a new film.
Now I'm getting back that warm fuzzy feeling when I first started brickfilming.

Imma translate what most members are saying.
"Oh my gawd with the community forum gone Im starting to brickfilm again!!1 You were so right mods/staff/Smeagol."
TRANSLATION:
"This really hasnt changed anything about my film-making habits. Im actually disregarding my own opinion to schmooze the staff so I can gain access to the community section." Just sayin....
Good thing that's not a part of our criteria!
What a lot of folks don't seem to realize is what an incredible amount of work it is for Smeagol and the moderators to run this site with their jobs, college, and other responsibilites. I would have burned out long ago had I been in their shoes. If this change (which makes perfect sense) is going to improve the community, encourage brickfilming, and make a moderator's job a little easier and more rewarding, then I say "Hurrah!!" - and so should you. ![]()

Um...uh...no...no of course not. Um, I AM DOING ANIMATION RIGHT NOW SMEAGOL. SMEAGOL LOOK OVER HERE I AM DOING ANIMATION. See, we're not just trying to get Smeagol to think we're animating....
In all seriousness though, I actually have been doing animating. But what's strange is, I don't think it was the community forum that distracted me, yet now that it's been taken down I've been animating more than usual.
Maybe it was just Smeagol's dissapointment in the community that made me realize what the site is all about.
EDIT: Though as others have said, this could mean more problems for reviewers as more films will be coming out. I wouldn't mind doing some reviews of films, I know you say that we can do "unofficial" ones in the forum but we really need to get fioms into the directory faster.

Well, for me, I mean what I say.
I truly agree with those guys.
And as for animating habits, I have proof:

Made that in just the past few days. ![]()
Hadn't animated weeks before that.

Indeed. Gosh, get your politics right.
Well, I may disappear for long periods of time but that's not to say I will leave the site. I won't be as active as before but I will stop in for a quick catch-up and get some help with brickfilming. I'd say BFG will take full advantage of this and people will move there for a community section still associated around Brickfilming.
Who said it had to be the opposite. We have a document that we hold leadership through 'Teh Rules', but we're still governed by a small group of people who have complete say over the site

Right so, I think I am sticking around. I keep going to click on Community, but it's not there anymore.
I guess this is just like YouTube changes and You grow to get used to it... I grew to the layout of a crotch bar instead of a sidebar and a grey button instead of a yellow one so I guess I can get used to this. I withdraw my sig and shall make a new one. But I still probably won't make more films, sorry! ![]()
Anyone on teh site does, NXT. The community forum wasn't just about any random crap, it sort had some brickfilming topics related. The only forum that had NOTHING to do with brickfilming was Cafe Corner. That seemed like a second chat room to me though I did like it. That's personally what I thought the community forum was like

Actually, it was occasionally used for brickfilming purposes.
I think I used to ask a few questions there, and talk about some other brickfillming stuff.
Not all the time, but occasionally.
