Topic: Dust/smoke in-camera?

Hello! mini/smile

My TOY entry will be about a temple. I will need some dust in the air, and light is going to come in from the windows.
Is it any way to do that in-camera?
I want it to look kinda like this:

Re: Dust/smoke in-camera?

find a substance that will create a dust and shower it on the set, then you should get that effect. Try flour.

Re: Dust/smoke in-camera?

Thanks for answering mini/smile
Do you think it is some other ways to do it?
I could do it in post production it that is the only alternative.

Re: Dust/smoke in-camera?

Post production isn't ideal, as it would require much time and hard work to make it seem realistic.

Re: Dust/smoke in-camera?

I think that picture you got there looks pretty epic, why can't you just photoshop it like I do mini/confused .

You Should use flour!

Will it be animatable?

Re: Dust/smoke in-camera?

Perhaps a light reading on a related issue will clear things up.
If you take too long to animate between frame capturing, the flour will settle before you have enough shots taken.  You're better of adding rays in post.

Re: Dust/smoke in-camera?

In my opinion your best bet is post-production unless you find something animatable. Flour moves around almost to much and makes your footage look like individual frames.

Re: Dust/smoke in-camera?

I found out how to make light rays in Sony Vegas, without smoke.
I used a built-in light rays effect. mini/smile

Re: Dust/smoke in-camera?

Looks like the effect affected the skeleton, too.  Does Vegas have layer options and blending modes?
