I'm going to go off-topic for a minute to address a phenomena that we've always had something of a problem with, but that has been slightly more prevalent in the last few weeks.
"IN BEFORE THE LOCK HERP DE DURR"
"IN BEFORE IT"
"I'M IN BEFORR THE LOCK"
"LOCK DIS THREAD LOCK IT"
"LUL UR THREAD'S GONNA GET LOCKED ROLFL"
I think you folks can imagine how annoying that is. Particularly when, as a moderator, you don't have any plans to lock a thread. Posting IBTL images and messages is spamming. If you think a thread deserves a lock, report it and say something like, "Hey, I don't think we really need this thread. Maybe you good chaps could check it out? Love, your neighborhood friendly forum member."
(You don't have to be quite as light footed as that, but the point is that getting a report with "You will lock this for all these reasons I came up with!" is, while better than utterly destroying a thread, still irritating.)
It would be great if people would stop insisting that we lock certain threads. The moderators have the final say as to what posts are reasonable. It's fine to challenge that, but do so in a way that doesn't potentially derail a perfectly good thread. It's really a pretty isolated group at present, but I don't want this to spread out of control. Thanks.
