OK, that was kinda amusing....
Meh.
Max why do you even watch this show?
Anyways, it was ok. Not my cup o' coffee actually. I thought the HALO suits were pretty funny and the head breaking through the window was cool. But apart from that the only real freak out bit was the part with the Ganger Doctor. ![]()
I thought the Halo suits were Sontaran knock-offs. I mean, they look exactly like them!
Max why do you even watch this show?
I have said my reasons several times. Please read them.
I thought some of you might enjoy this. I made a LEGO Doctor minifig. ![]()
Me want. I'll probably do a 'Doctor Who Series 6 in ... Seconds', since there are several jokes I can make.
Have not had the opportunity to watch this weeks episode - will try to ASAP.
I was wondering why you hadn't posted. There isn't much I can think to say about the most recent one.
Three parter! It was just about as good as part 1 but some of the doubled effects were worse. We saw the first cgi monster! I did suspect the ending with Amy being elsewhere from the second sight of the eyepatch lady.
Also, I have made a Doctor Who minifig and it is remarkably similar to yours! I shall see if I can find a picture!
Just seen it.
I wouldn't say its a three-parter, since it doesn't follow the doppelgänger story now. Its kind of like almost every episode in the classic series would end in a cliffhanger, even if the serial had finished (back then there were like...six parters). But, at least we dont have to deal with TWO red herrings any-more...
Again: meh. There wasn't anything strictly wrong - but it just was bland and, aside from the ending, didn't do anything memorable. Honestly - it just felt like filler....
Rory gets kidnapped....AGAIN!!! WHY IS HE EVEN IN THE SHOW!?!?! HE JUST GETS KIDNAPPED OR KILLED!!! HE ADDS NOTHING!! NOTHIIIINNNNGGGGGG!!!
I would complain about the motivations of the doppelgängers changing in like...every scene, but they established that they are confused and emotional (although they dont seem like it - they all seem quite sane).
In fact, the writing as a whole was inconsistent. It wasn't terribly so, but it bugged me. We are meant to feel pity for the doppelgängers - but they are clearly evil geniuses. The doppelgänger boss is like a freaking Bond villian - and we're supposed to feel pity? She wants everyone apart from her (very dumb) crew of molten play-dough MELTED!! And she does this with A SMILE ON HER FACE!!
And the political message is more bash-over-the-head than 'Avatar'. "Who is the real monster here?" Did the writers just steal a line from 'Cannibal Holocaust'!?!? (DON'T GOOGLE IT!! Its an incredibly controversial horror about Cannibals along with real-life animal cruelty. Its definitely not something that should be associated with Doctor Freaking Who!!). I got it right from the first 10 mins of the first instalment - the doppelgängers are just 'confused' and 'emotional' (yeah - like the time they vowed to MELT THE HUMANS!! Oh, they were just confused...). I am not a five year old! This is turning into a 90's Environmental movie!! "Man = EVIL and Anything not human = More pure than Jesus after taking a shower in bleach". Please stop trying to be 'edgy'! Why dont you instead concentrate on making your episode not-bland!
Oh - and why does the Doctor pull out a screwdriver at the end when he clearly gave it to the doppelgänger (who didn't return it)? I know the 10th Doctor replaced his screwdriver in Episode 1.3, but he explained that it was a new one. Here the Doctor whips out an identical one (almost as if it was the same prop...) out of no-where. Does he have a stash of these things under his jacket?
And the ending makes NO sense, but hopefully it will all be explained late-OH CRAP! Its a Moffat-written episode next week!
So yeah, it was bland. Very, very bland. But I was mildly entertained watching it, and apart from kidnapping Rory and the really bad political message (I know its not technically a political message - its just the only term I can think of to describe it), there wasn't anything else that made me feel insulted watching it - which is always a good thing.
I'm going to start giving star ratings out of ten. This one was: 5/10. Here are the ratings for the other episodes:
Christmas Special: 1/10
1: 7/10
2: 6/10
3: 5/10
4: 0/10
5. 6/10

I am really excited for the next episode because I (Don't kill me Mr.MoffatEra Hater) love this series so far. So many great stories and cliffhangers, I can't believe we have passed Episode 6 and we are still getting new mysteries haha.
And I really want to find out if what Moffat have been keeping a secret for 3 years was worth it.
I found an interview with the guy that wrote the episode you hate! (The TARDIS one) Interview with the guy what wrote the TARDIS episode If you are interested.
There is stuff in there with scenes that would have been good if not for the budget.
I was just joking - I am quite looking forward to the next episode. So far this series Moffat has improved a lot (the exception being 'The Christmas Carol') and I'm interested to see if the build-up is worth it, because the build-up this time was much better than the 'Crack' story-arc (which, unless its explained next episode, was NEVER explained correctly)
Thanks for sharing the interview. I found it interesting to see into the mind of the writer. I liked how he described the episode as his own 'fan-fiction' - which was probably why the episode turned out the way it did, since fanfic is never plausible within the continuity. I also liked how he said he wanted his episode to have "chasey bits". And I dont think when he says "I wrote the episode when the TARDIS turned into a woman" people are going to praise him. Heck, I dont think people are going to remember that episode....
I just started to get into Dr. Who. My friend showed me "Blink" and I was instantly hooked.
At the end of the newest episode, I was like "Omygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh" ![]()

I just saw the climactic final of the first half of Doctor Who!
Firstly, the cybermen were hardly in it, were they only in the advert to get more people to watch? I would have put something more about some of the other aliens and friends. Yet again the start was confusing but for once Amy has been captured and Rory is rescuing her. The highlights of the episode were the battles for me, as they are the only bits I can remember properly. The only problem I can find with them is that the biggest were like BBC's Robin Hood (I dunno if you have seen it, but the battles never focus on the fighting aspect). On confidential they showed people practising for a swordfight that would have been epic, if only they hadn't gone over the top with SFX. One break of the rules from the Doctor by retrieving Mr. Pirate who was in a different universe.
Huge spoiler that needs its own spoiler box:
River is Amy's child! Did not see that coming! River Song = Melody Pond! Or Pond Melody
All in all, it was spectacular!
I saw the episode, I really liked it. I was guessing a few things, like what the name written on that leaf thing was. It was a good episode, it was cool to see the return of some of the other characters too. I really enjoyed it, looking forward to the rest of the episodes in Autumn. But the best episode of the series so far I think, hopefully the Autumn ones will continue to improve.
Also, I heard from somewhere:
The Darleks are coming back again. My Nan, who also watches Dr.who a lot said she read that the silence are part Dalek or something, and apparently the Daleks are going to return - again. I haven't seen the episodes of the last series, but I know there was one episode with the Daleks. Did they go extinct - again? After watching quite a lot of the old ones it seems that the Daleks have died out about 4 times. What? I think that they don't want to completely expel the Daleks from the series because they're probably (excluding the doctor) the most well known characters of Dr.Who. I think they should come back one last time for good, and actually live for a bit, popping up every episode or so. It seems pretty stupid how they ALWAYS survive.
But anyway, that's just a rumour, I'm not sure if at the moment the Daleks are supposed to be alive or not, because the Matt Smith episode with the Daleks was before I started watching. You guys can probably enlighten me on a few things, I bet this post is full of mistakes, so please, correct me.
Spoiler (click to read)
After watching quite a lot of the old ones it seems that the Daleks have died out about 4 times.
The Doctor keeps letting the Daleks live. He doesn't want to commit genocide against them because that would be stooping to their level. The doctor and his rules, eh?
Aaaactually, last time they showed up he had a tantrum because he didn't have time to exterminate them. (lolol)
So they got away again.
The episode was good. Ish.
I hated how
River Song is part Time Lord. Fisrt of all the way it happened is stupid, second of all there's no point because she's not going to regenerate. We already saw her die permanently.
But I loved how
It kept you guessing as to the baby's identity. Because, if it was The Doctor's child, it couldn't be River Song as that would make him an incesterous pervert, but it seemed impossible to be Rory's as it was part Time Lord. Turns out it became part Time Lord by being concieved mid-flight in TARDIS. Go figure.
Also, "Let's Kill Hitler" is the most hilarious Doctor Who episode title ever.
Yep, looks like the daleks are coming back then.
And I agree, 'Let's Kill Hitler' does sound funny. I was watching it with my sister, and we both laughed when we saw that. ![]()
'Lets Kill Hitler'? Way to ruin the serious mood with the most hilarious title ever.....
The Episode was a let down. It wasn't bad - it was actually quite good - but it felt unbelievably rushed. I dont get why they decided to wrap up this story-arc in one episode after just a few episodes run-up. I guess its convenient to take a few months off, since it gives more time for the episodes to be made, but I would have rather this waited until the series climax. It seemed like Moffat suddenly had to move this episode forward, because every single scene felt like he was trying to cram as much stuff in as possible. Everything is explained, but its like if 'Inception' was cut by half and hour.
Why do I feel like we have missed a series of much better episodes? Suddenly, without any kind of grounding, there is a war going on. Between who exactly? The Cybermen? Then why does that guy make a (badly written) speech about the Doctor being the enemy? Did the Doctor ally himself with the Cybermen? If so - Why didn't he use the Cybermen when invading the ship? And if he didn't ally, then why are the Cybermen in this episode? Why would they know where the baby was if they weren't fighting against the military? And if they are - why? Why do I feel like Moffat just included the Cybermen so that people would watch the 'Next Time' trailer and think the episode would be about the Cybermen (like me)?
And HOW did they kidnap Amy? The Doctor says it was before America (correct me if I'm wrong). People have debated that she was kidnapped at the orphanage and the woman was the lady from the orphanage - but THIS IS NEVER SAID!! And I dont think it will be said because now the story is following yet ANOTHER sub-plot, so chances are we will never know...
The first ten minutes did the same thing as Episode 2: Just jumping from location to location with only a few seconds in each - and I hated Episode 2 when it did that, so you can imagine my joy when it returned. The one really funny joke ("I look forward to annihilating you on the field of battle") was ruined when they repeated it a few seconds later. Plus I had no idea who any of the people were. The Blue guy I recognised from the opening five seconds of 'The Pandorica Opens', but where did the Silurian come from? Why is she in the 19th Century? Who was the Sontaran? Was he from a different show? Was everyone else from a different show? (I think we will see the girl in a future episode - but she was a waste of time anyway...)
I hated what they did with Rory. I'm sorry - but you cant suddenly make him look like a badass. He CANNOT prevent the fire of Cybermen with his mere presence! He is the male equivalent of Princess Peach!
And no: he CANNOT fight off an entire army of magical monks!! He's a pansy who dies all the time!!
I also hated what they did with the Doctor. Matt Smith just wasn't his best in this episode. Whenever he shouted it was this raspy, melodramatic sound (usually he's quite good at angry) and one moment he's being his usual scene-chewing self, and the next he's like "I WANT TO YOU BE FOREVER KNOWN AS GENERAL RUN-AWAY!!!" His transition from emotion to emotion is like a set of traffic-lights. But I blame bad writing and directing rather than bad acting....
And why are they suddenly trying to make The Doctor look like a destroyer of worlds? He was branded with said title by Davaros! He brutally punished The Family of Blood, he slaughtered the last of the Ragnoss, single-handedly blew up an entire fleet of Sontarans (well, he wired it all up and then some kid snatched the big red button and pressed it for him), committed double genocide during the time-war, and many other acts of extreme violence. And only now are they saying "You might want to tone down on the 'oncoming storm' thing.....people are getting a bit scared of you..."?
Am I the only one who thinks the gay-couple was either a tribute or middle-finger to RTD? Even still, I find it ironic that its the homosexual who dies] first...
Oh - and wouldn't it have been awesome if the blue fat guy yelled "ITS A TRAP!!"
I love how people kept asking "Why are they called 'The Headless Monks?", and "But what are The Headless Monks'"? Spoiler: THE CLUE IS IN THE NAME JACKASS!!! In every single post-RTD era Moffat episode there has been something which makes me bash my head against the seat - and this is it. Plus, another thing I dont get:
Uh....you cant function without a head. This is common knowledge. If your head is cut off - you die (unless your name is Christopher Walken). They really quickly spouted exposition that the Headless Monks are 'driven by their hearts' - so I just assumed the monks were Aliens. But then the gay guy gets turned into a monk. What? Being gay doesn't mean your heart controls your body, Moffat. OK - so I then assumed that the brain was moved down or something in the space between the gay guy getting his head cut off and him re-appearing later. But then, the fat blue guy gets his head cut off.....AND HE IS FINE!! Getting his head cut off just MILDLY ANNOYED HIM!! HOW DOES THAT WORK!?!?!
And, aside from breathing, how the hell can they see? And unless you sew the wound together (I cant believe I am making BEHEADING seem treatable), the Monk would bleed to death! You cant just tie the neck up!
Oh, and three minor goofs: 1) How did Rory operate the sonic screwdriver when he clearly doesn't have it in his hands, and he is holding the baby in both his arms when the door opens? 2) How the hell is River Song able to teleport into THE TOP SECURITY MILITARY SPACE STATION!?!! And 3) If the Doctor can just shut down the force-field with his sonic screwdriver then why didn't he do that before!?! Is there anything the sonic screwdriver cant do?
The 'twist' made sense. I didn't see it coming - which was a good thing. I dont think Moffat had it planned for years, unlike he claims, because:
As Brickyman pointed out: We've seen her die permanently. Why didn't she regenerate then? And she's not going to regenerate again because, as Brickyman pointed out, we saw he hop the twig for good. Plus, we now know she's a Time Lord, so even more suspense is removed.
And surely them coming in close contact in America was a paradox? They didn't touch each-over, but time must have been damaged a little...
Definitely not the 'game-changer' Moffat claims it to be. Just another sub-plot really...
Overall: it was incredibly rushed. It was good, but it wasn't the climax this (rather well built-up) story-arc deserved.
5.5/10

Hm, maybe the Doctor was there already and opened it but didn't walk in at the time cause he maybe had something quickly to do before.
Or the door could have been slow so he had time to put it away.

Well, the Daleks are "Having a rest" Read This.
But they are not dead in the storyline.
Wow. I really loved this episode. I haven't watched a whole lot of Dr. Who a part from season 6, so I guess that's why I'm one of the few that enjoyed it.
Oh, and reading through the spoilers:
Can someone give me the episode where Rivers dies? I would really like to watch it so I have a better feel of what's going on.
