Topic: what should I get?

I have a job this summer and I would like to know your opinion on what I should buy concerning brickfilming. I already have a good camera so I am not going to need another one. Please give me some suggestions. mini/smile

Re: what should I get?

You'll need a microphone of some sort, some LEGO, and as much memory as you can stuff in your computer

Re: what should I get?

What kind of computer do you have? If you have a Mac you should consider (for your frame capture software) iStopMotion. If you have a PC I would get MonkeyJam it's free and their both easy to use.

I'm working on getting my studio back up and running, so stay posted...

Re: what should I get?

I am considering buying a PSP but if I don't I will buy some more brickfilming stuff.

Don't buy a PSP. Really don't.

Re: what should I get?

I know exactly what you need.

brick enlargement

1. A great stop-motion notebook! I mean one that packs some power: I'm talking Intel Core i5 or i7 CPU, great graphics card, sweet screen resolution... every brickfilmer would relish such a personal computer.

2. Lighting - think about your current lighting system. Would it appreciate an upgrade?

3. Stop Motion software - if you have the money, SMP or Dragon (maybe iStopmotion too if you're a MAC) are by far superior to Monkeyjam, Heliumfrog...

4. Adobe products - Premiere Pro and After Effects are pure awesomeness. Seriously. Watch the AE basic training course on videocopilot.net and you'll understa-and.

5. A proper green/blue screen - professionally made cloth can be aquired quite cheaply and gives great results.

6. A good microphone. I can only recommend "Blue" brand microphones, their price/performance-ratio is unmatched. (To my knowledge! Disclaimer: I may be wrong. I can guarantee you that their microphones are excellent, though.)

7. More LEGO (maybe BrickArms weapons or other specialized custom-molded parts by independent manufacturers.)

8. brick enlargement (remember: such a desire is just natural)

That's pretty much it. But don't buy a PSP. Much rather, if it has to be anything games, go for either a) a Wii or b) an Xbox with the new rockband (the guitar-with-real-strings one) installed! But of course, No. 7 is pretty much insatiable, so... this one will keep you going regardless. (Let's not completely forget about Idea 8, though... mini/wink )

Hope this helped.

Re: what should I get?

Here, just buy an external memory "yokie thing" and get a good editor. Get your PSP, after all, it IS your money and do whatever the heck you want with it! mini/lol

Re: what should I get?

Probably that's the best option. I don't know what your budget is but you can already get a pretty notebook at around 1000 euros.

Re: what should I get?

My budget is 100-250. Don't think that will buy anything good.

Re: what should I get?

It's actually a better idea if you build your own. It can be cheaper, and you can pick out all the parts which would suit you best.

Re: what should I get?

if you want to build a GOOD computer, the cheapest I got mine made was 550 dollars with 8 GB RAM 3.2 GHz processor, and one terabyte HDD.
Works like a charm.

Re: what should I get?

Can someone expound upon this idea of ''building a computer'' like giving me some details, tips, tutorials, links, etc...

Re: what should I get?

It is actually easier than it sounds. It really only takes one day to build it. Just do a google search about computer parts. You can also go down to your local computer store and ask for help there. If you build a computer you can get the exact specs you want, and alot of the time the computer you build is better than most commercial products.

Re: what should I get?

Sony Vegas, Helium Frog animator if you have a webcam, sticky tack, and go to lego's pick a brick to get whatever bircks you need, hope I helped somewhat mini/wink

Re: what should I get?

I would get light gels, really some light gels can add so much to a film. The don't melt under the hottest lights Something like this is not to spendy and could add a lot.

Re: what should I get?

I am definitely NOT going to buy a PSP and am most likely going to AE CS5.5!
