I guess, but the point of the contest is to be creative. maybe you should cross Microsoft with Apple and make a hybrid. I don't want to see Mac OSX or Windows 7 only with gloss or no gloss.

This is my contest entry, BTW. Everything was made entirely from scratch. (The compression made it look poor. Next time I'll make them .jpeg's)
Not for any particular challenge but this is something I slapped together... It is my first successful GIMP project... Any criticisms...
More grass texture, and sort out the sky and lighting. Very good overall.
Since I don't want just one entry, I have extended the deadline.
I can't really come up with anything for it, if the challenge had a different theme, I would do it, but designing an OS is a bit too much for me...
