Best recommended watching in surround sound speakers on full blast!

I always use the opening space-battle to test surround sound systems. Its action is one of the reasons why I like it far more than the previous two - and its the only one that I actually regard as in-canon (save the mention of the 'M' word...)

Inception
I think it's one of the best movies of 2010, just amazing. Although, it was very confusing at some point's.
Example: A dream within a dream within a dream within a dream, once you are woken up in a dream you wake up in all the other dreams but what if the dream you were woken up in is the fourth dream level?
^Did you get it?^
Anyway...

It's my favorite movie! mini/bigsmile

Inception is really not that complicated.

Full Metal Jacket
So awesome.

How is it confusing with Ellen Exposition Page to help everyone along?

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Well...I understood it. I'm not trying to act clever, I swear. Sure, on paper and when its folding out the story can seem quite confusing - but once the movie was over I completely got it. In fact, I dont think its nearly as complex as everyone says it is. Adding different levels of a dream is just making things more difficult to understand - it doesn't make the themes or story more complex and fleshed out. In fact, I think there is hardly any character development (aside from DiCaprio's Dead-Wife issues, which are featured so heavily that you wonder why he didn't tell the rest of the group when she clearly intrudes in every single dream he is in) and the whole movie is just one over-long and needlessly complicated climax.

But I still like it. Its what I've been begging for - a Blockbuster that doesn't insult its audience, so I won't nit-pick further since I asked for this movie and to shun it away would just be wrong. I think though that it is a tad overrated - its intelligent, but its not complex or thought-provoking. As I said though, still a great movie...

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I have never believed that Inception was a difficult film to understand. It's edited together in a way that guides the audience through the story quite well (how it failed to receive an Editing Oscar nomination is beyond me), so as long as you simply pay attention to what's being said and done, you should have no trouble figuring out what's happening.

Thing is, I didn't pay attention. I don't have a long attention span when it comes to watching films; only making them. It was a pretty good movie, despite the fact that I didn't understand it at all...

Twelve Angry Men
All I can say is it's a great movie, I extremely recommend it.

The Other Guys
Permission to ROFL?
Permission granted.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Toy Story 3 (liek, finally!)
Sequels usually aren't good, but Toy Story 3 delivers quite well! The story was nice, and original, and is delivered in a way that keeps the audience captivated throughout. Very good three-quel, but I hope it's the last. Seriously, I just couldn't take a Toy Story 4...

How can a film be good if you can't follow it?

Anyway, Inception is to the mainstream movie industry as subway is to the fast-food industry. It's not as amazing as most people say it is, but it's at least better than the other junk that you normall have to deal with. Haha, that doesn't make any sense, does it.

127 Hours
I wasn't expecting much, even though Danny Boyle is fantastic and it got great reviews, something just seemed a little off about it. It was a lot better than I was expecting, the scene where he chops through his arm and his nerves was excruciating. The sound levels seemed way off too, but that seemed to be down to the rubbish sound system the cinema had. The music was way too loud in the opening, and I know thats part of Danny Boyle's thing, but it was unbearably loud, like we all had to block our ears for part of it.

Did anyone else notice anything stuffed up with the music levels? I suspect it was just down to a poor sound system, but I've never seen a Danny Boyle film in the cinema

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The Room
This is the greatest film ever. Watching it with friends at a cinema where the crowd throws spoons at the screen and yell out stuff like "Sestosterone!" and "Because you're a woman!" was just awesome.
"YOU'RE TEARING ME APART, LISA!!!"

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

It annoys me how the only way I can watch such a masterpiece is illegally on the internet. Its the same with 'Birdemic' - there is no Region 2 DVD. We get legally imported food, but for games and DVDs if you live outside the US and you get US independent releases you cant watch them? And I live in a town by the country, where the only screenings you get are 'The Sound of Music' (which is a guilty pleasure of mine).

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I've consigned myself to the underground way of appreciating films for a long time now. If there's a film that's really great, and that I want to lend people instead of giving them a file, I'll get the DVD.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Land of the Lost
I knew this was an awful movie before watching, I just didn't know how bad it would be. I can safely say, without exaggeration, that this is the stupidest movie I've ever seen. So, naturally, I watched all the special features and rewatched the movie with director's commentary enabled. I was amused by how often Brad Silberling used the words 'brilliant' and 'genius' in describing people involved with the movie or various aspects of the film itself. I suppose that if one dilutes the meaning from those words through overuse, everything is brilliant genius.

Land of the Lost was brilliant genius.

Ok, I watched the movie again. I found out that I must of missed a bit that explains lots (or maybe I wasn't paying attention) but now that I have seen it again it is not hard to understand. Also it was nominated for Art direction, Cinematography, Original score, Best picture, Sound editing, Sound mixing, Visual effects and Original screenplay! That's a total of eight nominations! mini/delirium

Rotten Tomatoes Review

I hate how people are comparing it to 'Hot Fuzz' and 'Shaun of the Dead'. But maybe I'm just annoyed that a few critics dont like this. Yes, it contains some vulgar humour (the biggest running gag is that Pegg and Frost seem gay - but it sounds much worse than it actually is), yes, there are not quite as many jokes. But I dont care, because it is NERDY.

This is filled with nerdy references. From the secret agent shooting the radio and saying "Boring conversation anyway", to "Smile you SOB!". And I wont spoil it, but lets just say that the identity of the mysterious female agent is the greatest of all Sci-Fi references. As a nerd, this was honestly hilarious for me. Pegg and Frost are GODS of Nerdom. If you watch any documentaries or bonus features with them in, they are incredibly nerdy - which shows lovingly in their work.

Oh, and it has music from ELO. Its like they made this movie just for me!

I solved that problem by cracking my DVD player. You can just search a code on the internet (depending on what player) and set it to Region 0 so you can play everything. I'm not sure if this works with all DVD players, though. Now I can order whatever cheap DVD I want off Amazon.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

You can do that?!

Then why the hell aren't they set like that anyway?

The !@#$%^&...

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

They are hacks. Whilst there is nothing illegal or wrong with that (for DVDs anyway), and I shall attempt it as soon as I get my hands on a Region 1 Release (preferably 'Birdemic' and 'The Room') - your basically overriding the code. So the DVD player doesn't have the option to switch.

I still dont get Region Coding though. Just....why?

I dunno man. I don't know. But it keeps me up at night...
Also, you can get multi-region DVD players.
