No need for that. Everyone is allowed an opinion on this site, as long as you don't force it upon others. I actually rather like reading his rants (though I am kinda weird for that sort of thing). Also, no one has a 'bad' movie taste. Simply because he doesn't/does like one thing that you do/don't like, doesn't mean to say he has bad taste. Leave his opinion alone.

I'd be okay with his opinion if he didn't act so childish about it.

Well, you did label it "bad movie taste." Plus, I don't think you can accurately say nobody likes his rants. Even when I think Max Butcher is a lunatic, I still like reading his thoughts more than the plethora of "Good" and "Cool movie" comments this thread gets.

Max makes a fair amount of sense, even if I disagree with him at times.

The thing is, though, that "documentary" is a really loose term. A lot of great documentaries are definitely "artsy" in the sense that they don't fit into the standard "this is a film about real events that I'm going to teach you about" formula.

The Great Escape

Personally, its one of my favorite movies. The craziest part to me is that it all actually happened! And its certainly a classic; I know tons of people who have never even heard of it. Its certainly a must-see movie, even if its slightly outdated these days. If ya haven't already, be sure to check it out!

I will happily stop ranting if I received a surge of complaints. But I just have one childish comment asking me not to express my opinion, so no.

Although - I do apologise for going off on a rant about the coalition government. Its just a topic I feel strongly about because of the instant negative effect it has had on my life - even though most people on this site do not live in England. Its something I care about, but since no-one else does, I will save my attack on the coalition government for my upcoming Brickfilm (although, I wouldn't really call it an 'attack', more of a satire which will be viewed by one thousand people at the most)

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

It's been ages since I last saw this, and I forgot what an excellent film it was. Incredibly well-paced, directed and acted, beautifully shot, and features exhilarating action while never skimping on character development. Also, really great visual effects work (apart from some shaky bluescreening); the CGI blended in so well at times that I never would have guessed CGI was even being used.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

Very very well made. I thoroughly enjoyed this adaption of the book, it was pretty spot on. And it was the very first film where I wasn't cringing at the acting of the three main characters. So good to know they're going out on a good note, I'm pretty excited for the next one now actually. Some people I was with said the movie didn't feel complete, but that's because it's PART 1. In a way I feel the same, but I'm viewing this just as a long intermission for the next one. I'm particularly happy that they gave the time to dedicate detail to this one, it's my favorite one out of the 7 books. Well done.

Zombieland

Well, I hate zombies. Normally. However, after killing several hundred on Black Ops I watched this, and my irrational worry seems to have decreased. I missed the start, but what I saw was quite funny, though not side-splittingly so, and less terrifying than I imagined. Next stop, Shaun of the Dead.
