It's kind of sad how bad a lot of the dialog was in A New Hope.

The flash forward to Anakin's future
but then it fell apart altogether. [/rant]
That flash was actually the weakest part of the whole trilogy, I thought. For one, it wasn't handled very well visually. The only visual that stuck out to me was at the very end with the mask. The rest was pretty weak. Second, it was WAY too specific. No vision should ever, ever be that specific. Seeing something like that really raises some questions about free choice in the GFFA. If Anakin saw a vision that specific (even to the point of seeing an exact event of something that will happen 20 years down the road, and hearing the EXACT words his friend will say too him) then you really need to ask, did Anakin have a choice in the events of Episode III or was it all predestined?
I would have preferred a vision more similar to the Nelvaan vision.
I love all star wars, perioid. I'd say more if I had time, and discuss a few things with people.
Anyone listen to SWAN or Republic Forces Radio Network? (you'll know what they are if you listen to them)
I should check out 'The Clone Wars', as apparently it is suddenly very good. I actually really liked the cartoon Clone Wars - the design looks WAY better with 2D than 3D, its dark and edgy at times but with some well placed gags, and it had some really good story-lines and action sequences. But of course, in typical Lucas fashion, anything cool will shortly be ruined. And we had the abomination that was 'The Clone Wars Movie', a waste of my time for a movie that was just a over-long pilot episode where the whole of the clone forces must unite to rescue Jabba's son!! Remember him from the Original trilogy? And I have no idea why we're supposed to feel sympathy from Jabba when in Episode 6 he's supposed to be the baddest Hutt in all of Tatooine, let alone his son who will grow into a nice charming gangster just like his daddy. And I really dont want to know how Hutt's reproduce....
So, yeah, the movie put me off watching the series (and I'm surprised how many people here have watched it, judging by what a terrible cash-in the movie was) I actually like Episode 3. Sure, its no-where near the Original Trilogy - but its a passable Sci-Fi movie with some actual suspense and emotion. Only recently have I appreciated the dark turn, and how bold it is considering Star Wars is at its basic essence a Kids Franchise. Oh, and Ian McDirmid is basically holding up the entire movie - who is, as usual, AWESOME as the Emperor. Plus, I love it when he says "No...no, no no no YOU HAVE LOST!!!"
I'm also probably the only one who thinks the scene where Anakin and Padme are looking across Corescant (sp?) at each-over is brilliantly done. Although, that may be because of the incredible music doing all the acting and emotion for them. But 'Black Swan' proves that its Lucas to blame, not Natalie Portman - who has somehow managed to salvage her career to win a Golden Globe and BAFTA despite being part of the least compelling romance in Hollywood before Elizabeth and Will.
Oh, and I'm incredibly annoyed that I'm gonna have to wait until 2015 before I can see Episode 4 in 3D. Heck, I'm going to watch the entire of the Original Trilogy in 3D because they are some of my favourite movies of all time and I love them to bits. I even like most of the Expanded Universe and all the games/comics/books. Even expanded material on the prequels is pretty cool (Anakin and Jar Jar are far less annoying when you can use your imagination to make them both sound like Christopher Lee)

I liked it, I wouldn't have mind a bit more vagary but the idea of the three episodes was interesting to me. It works as sort of a metaphorical microcosm of what happens in the whole 6-movie story arc.
This is especially clear at the end, when the Father kills himself to stop the son, much like Anakin will ultimately sacrifice himself to destroy Palpatine.
Visually, though, I call direct plagiarism of the Monster's judgment of Ben in Lost. This scene. Contains some spoilers for LOST.
It's interesting they considered having Darth Bane and Darth Revan in this episode as advisers to the son, but ultimately cut the scene b/c dead Sith lords wouldn't be able to manifest themselves like that.

One can say the same thing about young Boba Fett that becomes the badass bounty hunter of the OT, Anakin Skywalker that becomes Darth Vader and the clone troopers that will eventually become stormtroopers. If you're going to watch it knowing what they'll become, then you're not watching in the present. Listen to Liam Neeson. You might as well be that one annoying audience member booing and jeering at Chancellor Palpatine and yelling at Anakin to "don't go in there, the dark side's in there. You don't want to down there". Keep an open mind.
I really think that star wars is THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE!!! my favorite episodes are 3, 4, 5, 6. 1 is sort of boring except for Jar Jar. and 2 is too mushy. Have any of you seen the Star Wars Holiday Special? It's hilariously bad.
Also, I agree that the Original is better than the Prequels and the Bar B Que (get it; Pringles Origninal, Pringles BBQ?). Man, this thread should have been created a long time ago, we really needed it. Thanks, Legopinions!
I haven't really watched any STAR WARS related thing in ages, but I can say that people are being a little too harsh on the prequils. It's extremely difficult to create a thrilling story when everyone already knows the outcome. It's also difficult when many of the people you're showing the film to are children. Yes, I can say that George Lucas did go effects crazzy in the prequils, but I just think that the prequils helped shape up the entire saga nicely.
Remember, this is just my opinion...
I love all star wars, period.
That's the same for me. Though I think the prequels aren't as well made as the original, it's still Star Wars. I don't mind which star wars to watch, but even sometimes- I prefer to watch the Revenge of the Sith for the better Special Effects and Music.

I highly disagree. The dialogue in the OT is clever, sarcastic, and makes me laugh. It's a whole 'nother ballgame with the prequels, of course. My guess is that Lucas simply had to work harder and do a better job when starting out on the Original Trilogy simply because he was relatively unknown and nobody thought very highly of his project. As time went on, less and less people said "no" to him, and, as a result, his work became lazily and poorly written, as we see in the Prequel Trilogy. That's just my speculation, for what it's worth.
STAR WARZZZ!? Don't even get me started, when I was flooded half the stuff I had to save was star wars...
I'll try to make this simple:
Original Trilogy = WIN
FAV MOVIE: A New Hope
PREQUEL TRILOGY = (JAR JAR FAIL + PADME BECOMES A WIMP IN EP III) * (CGI^BAD PARTS) = MOSTLY OK
CARTOON Clone Wars = WIN^CLONETROOPERS AWESOMENESS
CGI Clone Wars = VIOLENT EPISODE(S)(one where clonetroopers are stuck in a life boat waiting for droids to pop them into space) - CRAP EPISODES
Overall Verdict:
Star Wars is my life
EDIT: LEAVE STAR WARS ALONE GEORGE, STOP IT. 3D DOESN'T MAKE IT BETTER. NEITHER DOES MAKING GREEDO SHOOT FIRST. MAKE A NEW MOVIE FOR GOD'S SAKE.

One can say the same thing about young Boba Fett that becomes the badass bounty hunter of the OT, Anakin Skywalker that becomes Darth Vader and the clone troopers that will eventually become stormtroopers.
But Boba Fett became the way he is due to his father training him to be so, and his father then dying leaving Fett on his own to fend for himself. Anakin is clearly a classic tragic hero who is manipulated by the Emperor/his love for Padme, and the clones are born to serve the Chancellor meaning that when the Chancellor turns evil and orders them to do evil things - they become evil. These are all emotional journeys that we clearly see, whilst with Jabba we never see this journey. Heck, in Episode 1 - although we barely see him (he serves nothing other than pointless fan-service in said appearence), we can tell he's a slime-ball in how he flicks a small innocent creature into the oncoming pod-racers. So what happened to make him suddenly a guy we're supposed to care about? And then what happened to make us not care about him, and cheer when he gets strangled by Leia? (although Leia's slave-outfit gives us something else to feel satisfaction about...)
And I dont really have a complaint about the innocent little Hutt - I suppose it hasn't done anything wrong yet, and they need to rescue it, but it kinda ruins the cute-ness. I guess I'm just annoyed because its such as pointless plot where there no doubt far more important things we can be watching in a WAR. I just cant get over the fact that the fate of the Republic rests in the hands of Jabba's Son (a character who has exclusively been bought up for this movie, therefore we care little about him until we actually meet him). Its annoying because the Republic have no choice but to rescue Jabba's Son, yet its just such a lame plot. Really, the movie was OK-ish (Ashoka was annoying though, and the artwork just doesn't translate well to 3D) apart from the lame 'pilot episode' plot - proving further that Lucas will do even the most shameful things just for more money, and like the sheep we all are - we will pay and watch it...
Sorry to get off the discussion regarding Jabba, but I have nothing I can think of to add - anyway, in terms of my favourite movie I'd have to say either episode 1 or 4, although my favourite era was the clone wars, but that might be caused due to nostalgia (Not the current series, not ep. 2 & 3). I liked the plot-line of the first episode, and I think it gets overlooked because of the other two not-as-great-as-the-originals prequels. I enjoyed Qui-gon and Darth Maul's parts.
Also, glad to see the quote Jargon - although I hope you realize I was being somewhat sarcastic when I named out all the flaws before I said that.
I agree that the Clone Wars TV show goes against everything Star Wars originally was, but on rare, rrraaaaarrrreee occasions it can be mildly entertaining.
Episode III is amazing!
Episode III is (in my opinion) the best of the prequel trilogy, and redeems Episode II - which in my opinion is worse than Episode I as it has all the same flaws, but adds a painfully bland romance (which I wouldn't mind if it was a sub-lot, but its supposed to be the pinnacle of the story - whilst the Clone Army storyline is shoved to the side when its far more interesting), makes Anakin even more annoying and unimpressive as a protagonist, has unspeakable dialogue, and takes away any kind of characterisation.
And, to be fair, Episode III still has all these flaws. But...its just executed so much better. Anakin is overshadowed by Palpatine - which is a good thing as he is a far more interesting character. The romance is still key to the plot, yet we see very little of it on-screen; which hides the terrible lack of chemistry created. The Clone War is still shoved to the side, but since it is almost ending then it doesn't matter because there is not much going on anyway. The dialogue is still bad ("His fate will be the same as ours") but its not...as bad ("Do you have a plan b?" is the only intentionally hilarious moment). With the exception of "NNNOOOOOOO!!!!" the ending is brilliant, and the action scenes are some of the best in the entire Saga (I LOVE the opening space battle!!)
Jar Jar is awesome.
