Topic: STAR WARS - Discussion Thread

The thread name explains all... anyways, simple rules - anything concerning topics that are considerably vital to various aspects of the story would be more suitably done through spoilers, unless of course you are merely quoting things from the films. Remember to also discuss the various factions, legions, eras, etc. I myself am currently watching episode 12 of the current series,

Spoiler (click to read)

in which Asajj Ventress tries to kill Dooku.

What's most interesting however is that George Lucas' sister wrote these few episodes, and I must say the dialogue is considerably better - thoughts?

I'll give my STAR WARS opinion
I love the original trilogy, great classics especially Episode V.
The prequels suck and the animated series are lame, why target one audience and not all of them as with the original trilogy...

It was the better one of the other two, but still terrible, the music of John Williams pretty much saved this movie in scenes.

Just watch RedLetterMedia's review of the the new trilogy.

I hate Star Wars. I loved the first trilogy. Then it went down down down.... more toys and crap, they made the prequels. What a bunch of F----.
Watch RedLetterMedia's review and you will understand.

Also watch the music video I did about the Star Wars Prequels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7K0OovM71Kg

Re: STAR WARS - Discussion Thread

You guys are too hard on them. if you look past the bad dialogue, predictable storyline, regular outcomes, plot flaws, bad character design (On some), and a load of other nitpicks then you could easily learn to love the franchise. I know I have certainly, despite falling madly in love with it as a younger kid I've always had a cult following of the series and movies, I just always found the whole idea more appealing. Plus with the additional games and extended world I just found myself immersed, along with my brothers. Actually I find the further story lines to be quite compelling, following species and planets, etc.

Re: STAR WARS - Discussion Thread

I've never been a HUGE Star Wars fan... I liked it when I was younger because "LUTSABUH BATTELZ ARE SOO FREAKIN CCCCOOOOLLL" but these days... It's more like "Lightsaber battles are epic. mini/bigsmile"

So... Yeaaah...

Ah, yes, that galaxy far, far away...

A hilarious (though highly manipulative) review of the films to be sure. Even funnier is the 108 page rebuttal that a Star Wars fan wrote to it. mini/lol

The Clone Wars right now is going very strong. The aforementioned Assaj Ventras/Savage Opress trilogy was very strong, it then went into the Mortis trilogy which was a little weird at times, but overall very strong and kept people waiting for each new episode in a way that the series has failed to do for a long time. The voice acting of Pernilla August, Sam Witwer, and Liam Neeson were welcome additions.

Anyone seen the latest Robot Chicken Star Wars episode? Funniest stuff ever and that show continues to grow my appreciation of Jar-Jar!

Oh, and those episodes that were mentioned in the first post were written by Lucas' daughter, not sister.

I liked the first Robot Chicken STAR WARS episode a lot, the second was kinda weak.

It's his daughter, Katie Lucas, but she didn't write them on her own.  She wrote one episode in a previous season "Jedi Crash," and it kinda sucked (starred Jar Jar Binks) so it's probably good she had help.  She is adopted, so I suppose dialog writing (in)abilities don't necessarily run in the family.

I enjoy 'The Clone Wars.' The movie they had in theaters to launch it was pretty lame as movie, it was essentially three or four episodes of the show made into a movie and lacked cohesiveness. The second season was a substantial improvement from the first season, and season three has been fairly solid so far.

Re: STAR WARS - Discussion Thread

Yeah I watched season 1 and 2 and they were pretty good. I need to start watching the third season though. The episodes that stood out most vividly in my mind were The two-part Malevolence episode, the one where the one Jedi and the other clones are stuck in an escape pod, the one where Nadar gets chopped up by Grevious, and the one where Yoda and these clones are trapped on a planet by themselves and one has a Gat. Pretty good series! Nice thread!

So yeah, I'm back from my mind.

Re: STAR WARS - Discussion Thread

I love the original trilogy!  Episode 1 and 2 though where just about a stuck up teenager.  My brother watches the Clone Wars but I think it's poor.

Yes, just finished watching that mini series, I must say I am quite impressed. I found the abrupt changes of power quite confusing at times though, it seemed an ongoing switch between Dooku, Asajj, and Savage - they all seemed to possess unseemly amounts of power which stemmed from similar memories, excluding Dart Tyrannous (Forgive if I misspelt that). Plus the ending to those were much the same way they began, expect with a different character. But that being said I found it very entertaining and I must say I am looking forward to seeing more episodes like them.

I think I prefer the second series more then the third, but I might change my mind depending on what the rest of the episodes throw up. Actually, I must say I found the ending to Mortis trilogy to be quite disappointing - it was going well in my opinion, especially with
